I hate to say this because I actually really like these kinda games that all seem inspired by the super successful "Vampire Survivors" that launched about a year ago now. ..This game, at least here at its launch, just feels super sloppy and rushed. I kinda wonder if this indie developer or developers behind this were motivated more by seeing dollar signs or actually trying to make a great game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BykRy5UuyNU The game is just not well thought out in my opinion.. You can simple stand still and let hundreds of enemies hit you, and only lose a few seconds of time from a timer that starts at 20 minutes! You demon character is simply a sprite, and though it looks nice enough, there is no animation at all as you move around the screen and it feels like you're just sliding around rather than stomping around kicking ass. - This is what I mean by it feeling "sloppy and rushed". This game today at it's launch gets a first impressions score of just a 4 out of 10. By comparison, I'd give Vampire Survivors a 10 out of 10 score. NOT RECOMMENDED. ..There's just much better indie games of this exact type that are much better than this, not even counting the excellent "Vampire Survivors" title.
This roguelike has you go till you run out of time on the clock. Every time you get hit you lose a few seconds. You also have the goal of killing the king or heroes before the time runs out. 8/10 For more short reviews check out this: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/Gaming_made_cheap
Good VS type game, the music is great and the idea of having various bosses gives a unique mechanic/take on the genre. Quite a few hidden things in the game it seems and a true ending to work towards. Rather than health, taking "damage" subtracts from your time left, making it harder to reach the final boss
Enjoyable demonic romp with a self-righteous cast of characters you'll love to dethrone. Excellent soundtrack, interesting health mechanic, and little goodies to find around the map. Experiment with different weapon builds and try to beat the clock. A good hit of dopamine at a fair price. Show them the error of divine mandate. Death to monarchy.
This is a great game. I cannot tell you how many rounds I've played, and it's still fun and exciting every time. It's challenging, especially if you're trying to hunt achievements, but it never feels unfair or impossible. When I lose, it's because I deserved to lose. The setpiece bosses are great for flavor and require you to tailor your build to prepare for them, which is pretty unique. If you like other games in this genre, you'll definitely like this fresh take on it.
I actually like this concept which sucks because I don't like the game. This is not an early access release which means this is a complete game. And for a complete game, there's not enough there. That aside, there are also some baffling design decisions, like for example the end of a run you can either restart or quit to desktop. I get that it's supposed to be arcadey but the sound effects are grating to me. I also think the lack of permanent progression is a bad choice. A lot of this I would forgive if it were an early access release, but for a complete game with no demo I can't in good faith recommend it. I really wish I could. Works well on Steam Deck.
A well-balanced fresh take on a Roguelite / VS style game. The music and VO are great. The variety of abilities, achievements, and end-goal makes it fun to replay. Plays quite well on the steam deck too!
This game is a ton of fun! You can definitely see where Vampire Survivors partly inspired this game but it's 100% its own game. The fact that you're immortal and don't "take damage" but instead lose time on the timer is something I haven't seen before so I found it pretty unique. The visuals are nice and a bit retro and the gameplay is pretty smooth for the most part. It's a good game to sink time into and each of the different weapons are nice. I definitely like some weapons more than others but they're really down to preference. Highly recommend giving it a shot, especially for the price.
