About
The foghorns wake you, violent as ever. Another passenger has come to cross the fog.
In the dream you wander through the pines, and come upon a body. Innocent and young, murdered in cold blood. By your hand or another? Makes no difference now.
Foghorns Drown is a short psychological thriller, inspired by Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, and Mouthwashing. You play as a ferryman, bringing passengers across a foggy lake to a town drenched in mystery and folklore. The old ferryman has disappeared, and a murder has been committed.
How to tell real from dream when the dead speak again?
Physics-based interactions to open doors, drag objects, and operate the crank of the ferry to pull it along a rusty old chain. The foghorns have little patience, the ferry must move.
A rich, detailed narrative told through environmental clues, dialogue with the townsfolk, and surreal visions woven into your experience. The fog speaks to those who listen.
Psychological horror that escalate as truth begins to blur, and strange old tales begin to reveal themselves to you. Something in the water demands its toll.
Who is the killer? Why did the old ferryman disappear? Solve the mystery, before it's too late.

fun game, I liked it, has a couple crashing points that could be fixed though
Beautiful and eerie experience. Loved it <3
Well shame on me, I guess, I was so psyched for this based on the trailer that I bought it when I should have just tried the demo. Only issue there is, sometimes demo and early release games don't have all the features the full game will/does, and therein lies my particular issue. I don't play mouse and keyboard, always a controller of some kind. Now you may scoff, and that's fair, but I never have nor will play any FPS, RTS or MMO games, the genre's that demand M&K, so I just never was interested. Anyways, this is usually not an issue due to Steam's fabulous steam input system, but that's where this game got weird and I end up not recommending it. Most of the time I can remap in steam input and use a controller for anything, no problem. But this game fought me on that front. Remapping ESC to the start button - a common thing to do - should have opened the menu in game. However, in this game it flashed a dark screen and then nothing. Not the menu screen, something else. Almost as if the game knows there is a controller and is trying to do... something, but it doesn't work, and the end result is it cannot effectively be remapped. I dunno if anyone else had this issue but I did and I could not fix it. I had several issues like this and overall, the game just would not cooperate. Now obviously I highly recommend developers include controller support for people with a preference, accessibility concerns, etc., but if your game is doing weird stuff that effectively disables steam input remapping, that's a problem. Maybe I was the only person with that problem, I couldn't say. But if you are for whatever reason a controller only person, and think steam input will save you, this time it may not. Fair warning.

cool concept based on the greek ferrymen stuff plot twist was nice/lore was cool under 10 bucks worth a try edit: for devs can you please add more than just 1 audio volume setting slide? the music can be very faint vs the rest of the game
i was super excited to play this because of the likeness to silent hill, twin peaks, mouthwashing style of horror and it didn't disappoint. this game is consistently eerie throughout with a building sense of dread and you get closer to discovering what is going on. there is some gameplay interactions but it is mostly a walking simulator focused on atmosphere and story telling. overall i had a really great time playing and would recommend to anyone looking for a short psychological horror experience.
Very interesting and Lovecraftian story with beautiful graphics. Really enjoyed it!
Jogo bonito e bem feito graficamente, mas a história deixa a desejar se estendendo muito (ironico, pois o jogo é curto) e não explicando nada no final. Uma pena, pois tinha tudo para ser sensacional.
I like the mood and artstyle, that's about it. Way too much dialog, developer should just write a book. It becomes nonsensical. Rushed.
it's always bad news when a man like you turns to god
I achieved 100% of the trophies before writing this review. The story writer left midway through development - or at least, that’s the conclusion I reached. Pros:

Dark atmosphere - You can literally cut it with an axe.
Soundtrack - Fits perfectly.
PS1-style graphics - Which I love, but that’s a personal preference.
Cons:

The story is rushed, inconsistent, and incomprehensible! It starts great, with a proper sense of mystery and a slow pace. But suddenly, you’re jumping all over the place between memories, visions, random characters, and random locations. It’s like the story writer prepared the beginning and the ending, then left the team, leaving behind a few notes for them to "go figure out" the main part of the story.
Overall: I am giving it a positive review because of the mentioned pros, but it does not fully deserve it. I hope the development team hires a proper writer and creates a similar game with an actual story in the future, because there is a lot of potential here - it just needs to be utilized!
