About
The foghorns wake you, violent as ever. Another passenger has come to cross the fog.
In the dream you wander through the pines, and come upon a body. Innocent and young, murdered in cold blood. By your hand or another? Makes no difference now.
Foghorns Drown is a short psychological thriller, inspired by Silent Hill, Twin Peaks, and Mouthwashing. You play as a ferryman, bringing passengers across a foggy lake to a town drenched in mystery and folklore. The old ferryman has disappeared, and a murder has been committed.
How to tell real from dream when the dead speak again?
Physics-based interactions to open doors, drag objects, and operate the crank of the ferry to pull it along a rusty old chain. The foghorns have little patience, the ferry must move.
A rich, detailed narrative told through environmental clues, dialogue with the townsfolk, and surreal visions woven into your experience. The fog speaks to those who listen.
Psychological horror that escalate as truth begins to blur, and strange old tales begin to reveal themselves to you. Something in the water demands its toll.
Who is the killer? Why did the old ferryman disappear? Solve the mystery, before it's too late.

Based on visuals and setting it is a 4/5. There's no threat that you have to avoid. Right as it delves into the more strange and wonderful that it could have been, it ends, it feels unfinished. If the developers decided to go for a longer story than what you get, and not all over the place, it is an easy buy. So based on that I would not recommend it. 2,5/5. Perfectly average, yet personally a game you "skip and wait for the sequel".
I really enjoyed this game. I love the world building that is done here and how we get questions but not every question is answered, and I like that. Everything is all told to you at the end. I believe there is a second ending where you don't give the letter to Daniel G., I did it to get the achievement but never never explored that route. Towards the end and half way through, you start questioning what's real and what's fake and I really like that part. Another part I enjoyed was the setting, I am someone who really like's to get into world building and setting is great for the game. I also love that low poly graphics that indie game's have, like Mike Klubnika's games. So, if you want a cool indie game with a net setting that takes an hour, then I greatly recommend.

A psychological horror that relies on dread, disorientation and ambiguity rather than cheap jumpscares and shock value. Its retro PSX aesthetic adds to the otherworldliness, unease, and surprising charm that its quaint little world brings to pixelated life.
Every life carries a toll.

Amazing atmosphere!
One thing that is very difficult to achieve in a game is atmosphere. And this game is full of it. From the model design, the soundtrack, the actual gameplay, it sets a certain mood and sticks to it throughout. I also think there is a certain depth to the story that cannot be fully interpreted in one playthrough. It can be confusing at times. The only downside I would say is the length of the game, which feels short coming in at a little over an hour. I spent a lot of my playtime just trying to get a bullseye. The ending felt rather abrupt compared to the build up. Overall though, very good game, thank you Steam for recommending to me.
Really enjoyed this one! I can imagine that if, like many reviewers seem to have, I'd played the demo I would expect more content. I got this in a bundle with That Which Gave Chase and No one lives under the lighthouse and it feels spiritually similar. If you are not a "walking sim" person, or someone for whom strong atmosphere does heavy lifting do not get this game. It felt very adjacent to How Fish Is Made and I really can't be mad about the short playtime when the lighting, atmosphere, and sound design were neat! Who would enjoy this? Fans of The Witch, Possum, The Little Stranger, The Vourdalak, The Wind, The Lodge (sorry for only movies but I am not as familiar with the indie horror gaming space right now). Am I going to remember it forever? No. Is it going to stick with me and rattle around in my brain? Yes.
Very atmospheric "walking simulator" -type game. The vibes are very Lovecraftian with emphasis on rituals and occultism. The story had interesting mystery which kept the game from feeling dull, but the main draw of the game for me was the atmosphere. Sitting at a bench to smoke all the various blends of tobacco and throwing darts were my favorite moments. I would've wanted some more gameplay mechanics to interact with, as the game is very linear and the flow is closer to a visual novel than any other genre. It's an enjoyable way to spend an evening and I'm very curious to see what this studio does next.
Atmospheric, very story-driven and aesthetically pleasing!
