Fun. I looked at this game a long time ago but read about some issues. Decided to check it out after it's release and haven't had any bugs that I know of.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Flotsam took a shade under 17 hours to complete on first run, gaining most of the achievements (but not all!) and sailing my little colony off into the unknown. As colony builders go, Flotsam is charming and well thought out, with the core loop of expanding your floating kingdom being both engaging and challenging to an extent, with a particular balance having to be paid to resource income. Running out of food or wood early on are real problems, and can end in disaster if you aren't looking ahead to where you can pick up resources. The late game gets actually easier, despite more and more resource chains, as you can build up your floating colony to have all the basic resources it needs made/grown/bred locally. There comes a point where you're entirely self-sufficient for the daily needs, and the exploration and scavenging focuses solely on obtaining more seagulls. I mean more aluminium and metal, sorry. The end does come at a bit of a rush - you spend a lot of late-game resources to build two facilities and then boom, you're done, with no real chance to experience what changes they would make for you in a longer setting. Several of the criticisms I can see in other reviews, such as production caps, have been resolved, and the architect office addition allows you to somewhat re-work your colony without having to deconstruct and rebuild everything...sometimes. My only main wish is that the bridges were available much earlier in the tech tree. Still, I had 17 hours of engaging fun, for a good price of £9.99 on sale.
Durchgespielt in 33,7 Stunden.

I wanted to like this game and I did end up finishing it, however it was quite tedious at times. I also ran into a handful of bugs, none of which were game breaking however. It looks nice and plays fine, but the novelty wears off very quickly
I'm a great lover of city builders but this one is just not structured well. Having to click each individual building over and over again, hunting them down on your massive boat city, is miserable. There needs to be a menu on the side to operate your different facilities easily. There are also way too many uses for wood and different kinds of wood processes that need to be accomplished before advancing, and automating anything essentially depletes the resource instantly so that's a no go. Floaters are by far the most needed resource and there's literally just not enough of them, even when crafting them from waste plastic. So much of the sea is empty and has no resources and there's no easy way to mark or see where you need to backtrack later when you have more advanced tools, nor tell where you've already been. There are also so few workers in the first few hours it's impossible to get anything done. I really love the art and the premise here, and it's not the worst city builder ever by any means, but it's horribly imbalanced with a very useless UX. I'd advise not buying it.
