Fireboy & Watergirl 3: The Ice Temple continues the familiar cooperative puzzle-platforming formula with a frozen setting that places greater emphasis on momentum, timing, and careful movement. Developed and published by Oslo Albet, it preserves the straightforward appeal of controlling two elemental characters while introducing slippery terrain and ice-focused obstacles that give this installment its own personality. Rather than dramatically changing the foundations of the series, it builds upon them with environmental mechanics that make navigation more demanding. The core gameplay revolves around guiding Fireboy and Watergirl through puzzle-filled stages and getting both characters safely to their respective exits. Their elemental differences remain essential to nearly every challenge. Fireboy can handle certain hazards that Watergirl cannot, while Watergirl can safely cross areas that are dangerous to Fireboy. Other hazards threaten both characters, requiring players to understand the environment before committing to a route. This creates puzzles where success depends on cooperation rather than simply moving both heroes toward the end. The Ice Temple provides the most important variation. Frozen surfaces affect movement and make stopping, accelerating, and positioning more complicated than they would be on ordinary platforms. Momentum becomes something players must consider when approaching jumps or attempting to stop near hazards. These physics add an execution component to puzzles that might otherwise be solved entirely through observation. Knowing the solution is only part of the challenge because players must still maneuver both characters through it successfully. Environmental mechanisms further strengthen the cooperative design. Buttons, moving platforms, switches, doors, and other interactive elements frequently require one character to create an opportunity for the other. A route that initially appears inaccessible can become possible after manipulating the correct mechanism or positioning one hero in the right location. The better stages create satisfying sequences where several smaller actions eventually open a safe path for both characters. Collecting diamonds provides an additional objective beyond simply reaching the exits. Players interested in efficient completion can attempt to gather everything while minimizing mistakes and improving their performance. The presence of timed elements encourages replaying previously completed stages and finding faster solutions. As a result, the game can appeal both to casual players who simply want to solve each room and more completion-focused players interested in cleaner runs and collecting everything available. Cooperative play remains the most entertaining way to experience the adventure. With two people controlling separate characters, communication naturally becomes part of the gameplay. One person may need to wait while the other activates a mechanism, and poorly coordinated movement can quickly result in failure. These moments create an enjoyable mixture of puzzle solving and lighthearted chaos. The relatively simple controls also make the game approachable for players who may not regularly play complicated platformers. Playing alone offers a different but equally legitimate challenge. A single player must manage both heroes, effectively replacing verbal cooperation with multitasking. This can make certain situations more mentally demanding because the player needs to remember the position, hazards, and next action of each character. It is manageable thanks to the game's straightforward control scheme, although some stages naturally feel more comfortable when responsibilities are divided between two people. The visual presentation is intentionally simple and functional. Characters and environmental objects are easy to distinguish, which is especially important when a level contains several hazards and interactive mechanisms at once. The icy setting provides a clear visual identity without overwhelming the screen with unnecessary detail. It retains the recognizable appearance of the classic series and prioritizes readability over elaborate graphical effects. There is not much emphasis on storytelling, character development, progression systems, or customization. The experience is almost entirely centered on completing individual puzzle stages. That focused approach works well for short sessions because players can jump directly into a challenge without dealing with lengthy introductions or complicated systems. On the other hand, anyone expecting a substantial narrative adventure or a modern platformer filled with upgrades and unlockable abilities may find the overall scope limited. The game also includes Steam achievements and Steam Cloud functionality, while Remote Play Together makes its local cooperative structure more convenient for players who are not physically in the same place. These features complement the game's straightforward design without interfering with the central puzzle experience. For Steam Deck compatibility, there is no official Valve Steam Deck compatibility rating indicated for the game at present, so it should be regarded as unverified rather than officially Verified or Playable. Its relatively uncomplicated 2D presentation and modest control requirements suggest that it may be a reasonable candidate for handheld play through Steam's compatibility layer, but actual performance, control behavior, text readability, and other Deck-specific details should not be treated as guaranteed without an official compatibility assessment. Players primarily purchasing it for Steam Deck should therefore approach it as an unverified title. The biggest potential drawback is that the game remains deliberately close to the established Fireboy and Watergirl formula. The frozen environment meaningfully changes movement, but it does not transform the series into something fundamentally different. Players already familiar with previous entries will immediately recognize the elemental hazards, dual-character cooperation, collectible diamonds, and exit-based objectives. That familiarity is an advantage for returning fans but may make the experience feel conservative to anyone looking for a major evolution. Ultimately, The Ice Temple succeeds because it understands the appeal of its uncomplicated cooperative foundation. The combination of asymmetric characters, environmental puzzles, slippery movement, collectibles, and coordination produces an accessible game that can become surprisingly demanding as stages grow more intricate. It is particularly enjoyable with another player, while solo play offers a worthwhile multitasking challenge. Its modest scope and traditional presentation prevent it from feeling revolutionary, but its focused design makes it an entertaining continuation of a classic puzzle-platforming concept. Rating: 8/10

Really fun game to play with couple/friend Good stuff: -This one was harder than the first two games. -Puzzles are fun and a couple of them made me think. Bad stuff: -If you are Watergirl the snow mechanic is pain. -If you press the "R" button (restart) too fust, the game crashes. -For some reason this game crashed way more times than the other games (Around 6 times in 2hrs)
