A much better version of Stardew Valley (which I enjoyed too and played for over 80h). But don't get me wrong, it's not a clone, it's a revamp with lots of new great ideas and an interesting world. Note: Steam under-tracked how much I've played due to a combination of offline mode and a sleep mode bug. It's currently over 50h and I keep playing. What makes Fields of Mistria a better life-sim/farming game for me: - The art is more polished, from color palette to pixel art, to character art; - Characters are interesting, likable, and make you want to engage with them — not a bunch of countryside weirdos like in Stardew; It has a slight fantasy vibe with a bit of magic, and because of that, cave monsters don't feel alien to the world; - Lots of quality-of-life mechanics, like watering several tiles at once and many more, cutting some chores down to a minimum, which is enjoyable; - Crafting, cooking, etc. don't require cluttering your house with different machinery, and you have access to materials stored in a chest from anywhere; - Stamina drain isn't so punishing in the early game. You can still do a lot, and easily replenish it with food or at a bathhouse; - Quests don't have time pressure. The only thing I don't like in both games is short days. It forces you to focus on one main activity per day. I'd like to have no time limit on arranging my garden and decorating my house. Sometimes I want time to stall and play it as a sandbox.

Love this game and it keeps getting better with every update!
Very fun and cute, have yet to experience any bugs.
I highly recommend this game, if you are big fans of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory. It has rich npc dialogue and ease of play that doesn't feel grindy and empty like some other farming sims. It made me have difficulty playing other games of similar genre because Mistria made me feel comfortable and have high expectations for other . farming sim games. It's like a BG3 of farming sims.
I play offline quite a bit, so heads up, my playtime is stated to be less than it actually is. I'm in spring year 2, which is more than enough time for a proper judgment. I would like to preface this by saying I like Mistria, despite its massive flaws. However, I'm giving it a negative review for a couple reasons, most of which ironically are because despite advertising itself as nostalgic, it is NOT like the games its art style takes inspiration from. It's toothless, and it's afraid you might encounter the smallest bit of resistance and give up. So, nostalgia. It sells itself on it, and it refuses to do anything with it besides wrap itself in its aesthetic. I myself am a Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons fan, and have been since A Wonderful Life in 2003 (and I'm going to keep referring to it as Harvest Moon despite switching titles to Story of Seasons in 2014 and any Harvest Moon games after that being bootlegs). To a degree, I don't think only pretending to embrace nostalgia is bad - nostalgia is a poison that negatively affects things it touches. However...it doesn't actually bother with old stuff that's actually, y'know. Good. There are no rival marriages, despite that being the biggest requested feature ever since Harvest Moon got rid of it. There's no darkness involved in the writing. Nobody has any conflicts whatsoever, even in cases where you'd expect it. The most immediate thing that comes to mind is Adeline and Valen having a conflict over the former's willingness to overwork herself to the detriment of her health, but this is just...not something that happens. This sort of stuff makes the world feel more real and easier to become immersed in, but instead things just feel like an elaborate play. The most you'll get are the incredible popular March being a jerk to you and Juniper and Valen fighting, but the former doesn't mean much because even early on, March is just like that because he expects something from you, and Elsie makes a comment about how the banter is fun. There's also the matter of mine floor unlocks. Now, I will admit that I like the mines, They're a bit slow, but it does have some challenge. However...the riddles. They're bad. Not for the reason you'd think - I think requiring that you unlock each stratum is fun, and the riddles themselves are enjoyable! It's just...why are the items told to you by the quest log if they're presented as a puzzle? I understand the desire to not wall people until they look it up - we're in 2026, not 1998. We have the internet to solve everything, and not everyone is up for puzzles. But...why not just make it so you can bribe Juniper into telling you her best guess on what the riddle is referring to (that is, the correct answers)? Also, something I'm sure people won't care to see criticized, but the diversity is skin-deep. Not with non-romance characters - I have nothing but praise for them - but with romance ones. Reina and Hayden are the only ones with chub on them, and Hayden is the only one that actually *truly* has something going on there. Outside of Valen's barely noticeable eye bags, nobody has any skin imperfections, unless you count Hayden's farmer tan. Adeline, Valen, Rhys, and March are all characters that could have something going on, visually. It would even be possible to add stuff without visually changing anything - give Balor photophobia and have him tell you at a high heart level that he wants to put his cloak up more often, but is self-conscious about it. Make the characters disabled. Instead, they just...don't. Only Hayden has anything going on. There's also the matter of how everyone feels straight+ - that is, straight, but they'll take a same-gender partner if it's you asking - but people like that stuff, so I get why it's there. It's just, sexuality is a good way to say something about a character, and so this is a missed opportunity. It'd also be fun for characters to have biases on which pronouns they use for you if you select the multiple option ones - stuff like Balor using gender-neutral ones over gendered ones if you have them because he sees all kinds of people, of course he's familiar with them, Maple preferring feminine ones because she would like to have another queen in the town, so on and so forth. As it is, I tend to see mostly only gendered ones, which is...again, a wasted opportunity. Despite all my complaints, I do want to say that I don't dislike Mistria. I love that it's resisted the pull of Stardew's endgame of automating everything. The game is the best we have in terms of cast diversity, *especially* amongst the non-romanceable characters. There truly is an obscene amount of dialogue, and it has so much life in it despite its utter lack of teeth. The portraits are beautiful. I wouldn't have written so many words if I didn't believe in it. But at the same time...I can't recommend it for the same reason I can't recommend most farming sims these days: it's afraid of being seen as identical to the very same things it claims to be nostalgic for.
Meh
Temu Stardew Valley but with pronouns
Super fun and I'd say its better than stardew valley ngl. I really like the cozy fantasy concept and the character art is awesome.
This game is very, very fun. I bought this just around full release and the hours I have in it at the point of writing has been played over the past two weeks. I haven't played many games in the farming sim/cozy games genre over the past 10 years, but this one has captivated me fully. It brings on the nostalgia of playing Harvest Moon as a child, and the graphics are like a love letter to games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI.
