FEZ

Part of me feels torn on this game. There is so much to love about Fez. The 2D/3D mechanic works great, it feels intuitive, and it is explored to satisfaction. But really, that's only part of the game. There are puzzles unrelated to the central mechanic that were a lot more involved then I expected. Part of me feels like it would have been nice to know that this was the kind of game I was getting into. Some of the puzzles were actually too hard for me. Fortunately, you don't need to collect everything. I can really appreciate the decision to give the player these difficult puzzles without holding their hand--even if I personally found it frustrating. I think everyone should at least try this game. The platforming is really cool, and solving some of the puzzles was really satisfying... but I wouldn't be upset with anyone for using a guide for some of these. And I wish I loved this game more than I do.
