god this was such a good game. i could feel my brain being rewired as i was playing
Even after all this time, FEZ is still an all-time indie classic. I remember playing it for the first time, and it’s one of the few games I’ve ever felt genuinely compelled to complete—not out of obligation, but because I wanted to see everything it had to offer. It’s a medium-sized game, around 10 hours or less depending on how deep you go, which honestly feels perfect. It never overstays its welcome, and every new idea feels intentional and thoughtful. The world, the puzzles, the music—it all works together in a way that sticks with you long after you’re done. If you’ve never played FEZ, do yourself a favor and try it if you can. It’s one of those rare games that doesn’t just entertain—it feels like something special.
Fez turned my world 3D and taught me tetrominoic languages! Seriously though this game should be up there with puzzle games like Myth and Portal for executing the concept so brilliantly it pushes the genre forward. If you like puzzle games with light platforming like animal well (but with less time pressure and mechanical skill checks), then this is a 10/10 must play. Heck I don't even play many puzzle games these days but I loved playing this on the Steam Deck.
