A little cautious at first, I felt like after playing Necesse and Terraria this would be something similar. It was, and sort of wasn't. It's a fun game initially acquiring resources and starting out, but sort of becomes tedious at times, especially if none of your friends have this game (because it doesn't seem like there is any automation). The graphics and visuals I found to be pretty original and cool, but other parts of the game sort of took the fun out. It's a decent game to say at best, and ***BUYERS BEWARE***, it seems like the devs have closed the book on this one. Cryofalls gameplay is pretty solid and engaging at first. The player is dumped in a random map seed location and immediately starts foraging for anything on the ground. What's done right in Cryofall is its leveling up and experience system. Just like in Fallout - as the player performs certain actions they become better at it, and are rewarded research points for doing so. This system in particular (to me) is probably the best feature next to the sprite/graphic set. As the game progresses the grind starts to become more real and real. A decent amount of material is required to build some basic equipment, buildings, or ammo and do require the player to spend a good chunk exploring and running back to the base. There is nothing wrong with staying away as an automation game, but a little would've been nice in the sense of having some sort of object collecting resources to minimize time constantly supplying, harvesting, foraging, stocking, burning, and providing resources. Eventually the player is able to make drones that do harvest, but still require the player to be within the vicinity. The enemies in the game are interesting. There are some strong ones at the beginning the player certainly has to avoid. As time goes on and better materials are collected the player has more options in building sturdier and stronger weapons. The best weapons in the game for me were the ranged ones (although at first it costed a lot of materials to get or supply them). The weird part was the melee aspect of the game. It makes sense as the player needs to move and click and swing at the right time, but it seems anytime I had a melee fight on my hands the computer always had the upper hand and was able to do a lot more damage due to their timing versus my own. This part became really frustrating at the beginning trying to explore and gather resources. The travel time between places sometimes was quite off putting - even with the ability to make vehicle transports (or mech transports?). The visuals and graphics are suitable to the game's environment. I liked the sprites and animations within the game, even though it may appear a little simple, I thought this part was probably best done out of the entire game. Everything is relatively smooth in this realms, character and enemy actions are viewable, and the environment has some life to it. The sounds and music are alright. It is not the greatest, but it is certainly not the worst. There is a presence of audio and seems to adapt a little given where the player goes or what the player is engaged with. Both these realms were alright - unfortunately like the rest of the game. In short, this was really exciting when I first started and then became boring. No friends were quite interested in getting into this and the game doesn't do much to further sell it's crafting, coop, building, and surviving experience. There is a PvE and PvP aspect, but again, what use is it if no one is on or playing. There are loads of combinations of items to work with, but the game lacks a major punch and loop to keep the players interested and coming back. I can't quite recommend this game, maybe on sale if you're interested, but I don't see myself coming back (if at all) to see what else is offered. Glad I got it cheap in a bundle. Another nail in the coffin was the lack of controller support, and I generally don't complain about that. This game could've certainly used it. For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game says it's single player, yet when you try to start it and DENY it phone home capabilities, it will chastise you for even daring to have some semblance of privacy. Then cheekily tell you that if you want to run your single player game, you can do so if you allow it to connect to their data gathering system. How about I tell you no? Emphatically no? DEFIANTLY NO? NO. MEANS. NO. I obviously do not recommend this data harvesting tool.
another game that can't be paused in single-player, ♥♥♥♥ off. everything else is moot with such a dealbreaker but I'll go into details anyway. would be decent if not for the job description that must've said 'competent game developers with common sense need not apply.' more baffling choices: can't change world size, half of it would've been plenty for one player. doesn't concern me but public servers get wiped every 3 months. no updates since feb 2022, no problem with that, but why can't they just let people be? can't change your chosen username, ever. can't access settings until after a ton of screens listing game features, in case you dared not to read the store page. they're also selling skins in-game for real money. as for positives: it looks and sounds nice and the sci-fi setting is rare in the genre. lots of mechanics and stuff to do, settings are decent (separate volumes, rebindable controls, ui scale, etc.) and a lot of variables can be tweaked, not just before world creation, but weirdly not before loading the world next time, so gotta load, change stuff, then restart. or edit the save outside the game. it's a zip with a different extension and settings are in a text file. customization is great to have, especially for solo play to reduce the grind. hunger, thirst, damage dealt and taken (only from/to enemies, nothing for radiation and such), xp gain, structure decay, stack size, crafting speed (not instant but close enough), boss difficulty so you have a chance of soloing them (I couldn't but I suck), etc. progress is saved when you quit, plus autosaves every hour (60 minutes, not in-game). death penalty is tolerable, can choose where to respawn, no inventory loss, just some durability. hunger and thirst also take a hit and you get a 10-min debuff, but there's always something to do afterwards at home, just make some anti-radiation items in case you die from exposure, as it applies a permament debuff. no need for sleep, stamina is only for slightly faster movement and chests can be moved even if they're full, don't see it often enough (possibly never). however, while hunger, thirst and structure decay can be turned off, food shelf life, item durability and fuel/energy requirements can't be. nothing's adjustable at all except shelf life, which can be extended greatly, but why not let that slider go from 0.1 to 0 and remove the annoying timers altogether? rotten food turns into mulch but so does fresh food, so it wouldn't be missed. can't change day length, can't sleep through the night, no brightness setting and nights are dark as ♥♥♥♥. no light source that doesn't need constant babysitting, though electrical ones at the base don't need much energy. you can also build around those blue plants that light up at night, but sadly they can't be replanted. oh, and sugar spoils when irl it keeps forever but salt doesn't expire. mineral oil can only be made along with gasoline, wasting a lot of containers. or you can keep dumping gas into barrels because there's way too much of it and never enough of the other. if the oil cracking thing worked both ways, problem solved. crafting leaves a lot to be desired. can't craft from chests, can't search recipes or easily compare items, and there's absolutely no info before researching them. no stats for gear, no size or capacity for buildings. in fact, storage size is only shown once you build and open one. gear only has numbers as individual tooltips over the bars, gotta check and memorize them one by one, or open the incomplete and outdated wiki in a browser. weapons are worse, no numerical info at all. food doesn't heal, only some meds (crazy how low the medkit and stimpack achievement completions are, btw), and hp regen is incredibly slow, even with an implant that's constantly degrading, not only when it's supposed to do something. retina should only be active at night, regen only if you're not at full hp, etc. implants are a pain to make too, as most mobs, be it a snail or a wolf, only add 1 biomaterial, with bears and big lizards providing 2 and you need dozens per item, also for installation and removal. building is a pain. gotta have a toolbox with limited durability, then place blueprints one by one (can't just draw a 10x10 square for walls, for instance), then make them happen by interacting with each piece individually for several seconds because construction can't be sped up with server settings, only by making better toolboxes. moving a base is a gargantuan task too, might as well destroy everything and start over. even moving walls around to expand your current territory is tedious, as you have to stand next to a placed wall to pick it up, but then can place it wherever on-screen and a bit further off too. makes no sense. at least there are no base invasions outside pvp, huge plus for me, so I stuck to wooden walls and doors till the end. with daedelic as publisher it's always 90% off and there's a demo, but again, without just a skosh more common sense and consistency and everything rotting away or constantly burning resources, it's more stressful than it should be. though it's still not as bad as all the farming sims with once-a-year missable everything, passing out at 10pm because you're 8 years old, and the laughable end-of-day-at-home-only saving. the only reason I could finish in a reasonable amount of time (if you consider ~30 hours reasonable, but I like to be thorough and methodical) is because I increased every multiplier 5-10-50-100x, otherwise even the 'optimized for single player' game mode would've been unbearable, and the escape 'questline' at the end was still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous. also not trackable because not technically a quest, had to keep going back and forth. and had to utilize the console because as stated above, I suck at and hate boss fights, and didn't want to waste time on waiting for random events to happen every now and then, including bosses, because there's no summon item for them. nor did I run into a random food item from a random event, or enough gems, which are extremely and unnecessarily rare drops as well.
The publisher has opted this game out of Family Sharing. I give thumbs down. Cause and consequence. Sorry.
So much potential if it wasnt a server based focused multiplayer experience instead of a singleplayer/coop experience. More pve could make this game amazing.
I wish I'd gotten my money back when I could've. The game feels empty and lifeless if you're playing solo/singleplayer. Maybe it would be better with friends, but other games in the same genre play better and feel more enjoyable.
Spawned 500 miles from my friend, died running to him, got a 10 minute debuff that slowed everything I did down by 50%. No thanks
Not amazing. I think the best way to enjoy this game might be a medium size team of friends, but as a solo experience, it's really slow and grindy. There are limited options to automate or simplify things, especially in early stages. Most of the gameplay feels like moving things between boxes. Just doesn't feel like there's anything interesting to aim for, other than needing to grind more resources for the next tech tier.
