As an experienced veteran of this game, I would like to let new players who may be considering purchasing this board game know about some of the things that I wish I knew before I purchased Faeria. Pros: + This game has no pay to win elements – Yes, there are DLC’s that you can purchase to broaden your tactics. However, this does not mean that it gives you an edge as there is no greater chance of you winning a battle if you have a DLC pack while your opponent is playing with a base deck. This is because Faeria is a game where a lot depends on the decisions made during each round of the battle (tactics and strategy), and knowing or predicting what moves your opponent will make, and countering them. At first, this will be difficult when you are new to the game, but if you stick with it, you will see changes within the first few hundred hours and battles. + Now that there are occasions where the game and its DLC’s are provided with around 80 percent discount, the player base seems to be increasing and a lot of new players are coming in. I noticed that the usual 5 to 7 minute wait time for a match-find may take less (around 2 to 3 minutes) Tips: + There are numerous sites where you can check out beginner, intermediate and advanced decks. I would suggest trying out the decks that you can in a bot match and seeing how they work. It will help you understand the depth of the game and how different cards when combined can work together. + If you are strapped for deck slots, you can always delete the ones you made that you don’t need. Also, it is better to save your currency for deck slots than for cosmetics. (You can earn currency by battling other players – although there may be other ways as well) + When you start a battle, sometimes you may receive an extra plot (called a hex) which when played will also give you some extra Faeria (kind of like Mana) – in most cases in a battle, it is best to save this plot for later while in some cases you may be forced or it may be advantageous to play it early. With experience you will soon understand why and when to place this plot. Cons: - You will soon notice that some players will greet you by saying a “hello” emote during the start of a battle. It is important to understand that most of these people (I would say around 9 out of 10) will not say this “hello” greeting with good intentions. It is up to you to reply back or not. However, from my experience most of these individuals will harass anyone they are playing with if they know they are going to win. How I deal with them is that I do not reply back or react in any way to their harassment, since them harassing me has more to do with them. Final impression: So while this game does have its Pro’s and Con’s – just know that this review is just one of many and just like reading a book – the same book read by one person will definitely not be the same book read by another. If any of you really want to try this game, go for it! Because the only opinion that should actually matter is yours!
