It's an epic adventure without any traces of high fantasy. Set into 8th century AD, you'll take control of a small Viking clan and try to bring them to glory, or die trying. Takes around 40 hours to complete the game, and while there are many games that last 4-5 times longer, it's still more than enough to tell a compelling story. I love the music, it really follows the rest of the gameplay well, boosting the atmosphere accordingly. Don't expect hard quests, or some mind-breaking puzzles, this game is simple and based on tactical combat, where you'll spend most of the time. I'd say that's where the game really excels. You can't just rush like an ogre, as your characters will get wounded and then it takes time for them to recover. Also, your choices outside of combat have consequences, and it can affect your followers and the world around you. The only negative that I saw was a bit clunky mouse pointer at some situations, so you'll have to move the camera around to reach certain points sometimes. Other than that, if you're a fan of turn-based combat especially the one set at dark/medieval ages, you'll be in for a treat.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 8 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

So I'm uninstalling. I can't figure out many things and I can't get past some of the broken and bugged quests. I mean I just need to talk to the original quest giver but I can't because he or she is hiding in his house and there's no way in or stuff like this. And again the combat system just sucks. How do i heal my characters ? theres just too many of these little annoyances. I may come back to the game at some point but its a no right now. And for now its also a NO Here below is my original post...when I gave it a yes. Totally need to change my review which was pretty positive but have since engaged in quite a few combats and I realise its not me being unfamiliar with the combat system its just bad. While yes I can see lots of fun here and an interesting story and all the cool little quests. I do not think I will ever be a fan of this combat system. I mean The person that attacks first always get the last chance to attack ?? I'm also bewildered by the much of the attack types. I really don't like this because it leads to me having NO clue to what to expect my character to do on any given combat round. Now there's many good ideas here but the implementation is Awful just clunky and makes me constantly say "that NOT what I asked you to do" to my party. I'm going to keep playing simply because there's a good story here. IF I get to like this combat system I'll post my new thoughts but I'll leave my original thoughts here too.
I've just finished the game and I must say I enjoyed it to such extent that I would really like a second part to continue "my" adventures with the character. I do not understand some of the criticism I've read: yes, it may not be perfect but for instance to criticise the combat mechanics for range characters? first, I have managed to keep most of my ranged characters safe most of the time, but if you expect to be able to outrun an enemy with the maximum movement and still be able to shoot with the most accuracy, I would like to see you trying to do that in person. Too much micromanagement of characters? I really disagree. The homestead building panel too poor? this is a game based in the Viking era, were you expecting to build skyscrapers perhaps? This game is easy going, good music, nice graphics, a nice history well built (I still haven't explored too many paths to see where it leads - and that's perhaps my biggest fear, that it may lead to the same conclusion - but we will see). The biggest issue so far is that during combat mode sometimes it gets messy and it is not very clear which character you are controlling at a given moment (the finishing of each action takes a bit; perhaps I don't have much patience) and it may result in moving the wrong character to a location you were planning for your next character. But I do love the camera how it works and the level of detail. It is definitively a game I will play again in the future (I really hope it gets additional content or a second part that is connected to this one)
I just finished this gem today. The start was a bit cumbersome but once you understand the mechanics it makes fun. Similar to Expedition Rome especially the first fights can be really challenging. + Historical setting - no fantasy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I think the game is almost as historical accurate as it can get. + I really got the impression they first created the story and the branching tree of it and than they built the world. This is so much better than many modern open world RPGs which have just large world without any soul. + Real choice and consequences. I had the feeling I had more of them than in Expedition Rome. + Good crafting and skill system + Beautiful graphics for an indie game and absolutely sufficient + I am rather a completionist and it took me ~ 60 hours to complete all quests + Latest version (I am talking about steam version) had no game breaking bugs for me. - The first hours were a bit frustrating because I didn't understand some of the mechanics right away. - The timer was ok for me, but it can be a bit stressful. If you create from time to time saves you can avoid bad suprises. - The menue is ok but can be a bit confusing at the beginning - Almost no voice over - but for me ok, it increases the immersion. - Sometimes longer loading screens. But never more than 3-7 seconds on my PC - I wish they had produced a story add on how the vikings fought against the Franks. I can only recommend this game to everyone who likes Wasteland 2/3, Expeditions Rome, X-Com, Fallout 2 or Dragon Age Origin (even if it has no turn based combats)
Good squad-based RPG. Lots of side quests and decisions, and choice matter. Game is shorter than I expected, but good battle structure and challenging combats.
Its a good game but ultimately hard to recommend due to bugs and length in comparison to previous expeditions. The goods: fun combat and animations. Initially interesting skill tree and explorations and camping system. The bads: bugs, combat can be limiting with weak use of cover and lack of combat abilities. Combat can be bugged as well but i only experienced this late game... annoyingly. Skills can peter out in terms of usage and sometimes later abilities are somewhat useless. UI for skills in combat is weird and buggy. Inventory items are good but seem to have a ceiling. Crafting seems to be the only way to buy equipment which can feel limiting... after a while its either explore and find or train one of your own to blacksmith skills. Marketplaces seemed useless for equipment and mostly there for resources. Going to a town blacksmith is close to useless. Settlement system is interesting at first but doesn't seem to enhance the village as much as you want minus the palisade walls. Exploration is fun at first but very limiting and the world seems bleak and empty. It always seems like there should be more around then there is. Revisiting places generally leads to bugger all minus the few minor missions sending you back to places. And the story... well that can keep you going but it was going down hill after a while. Many limiting choices. A or B. Made the game feel unnervingly linear despite the environment around you. And many big battles seemed mildly small. The last few missions were a ridiculous breeze. But overall the story was quite interesting with many plot twists. Overall an ok game but not as good as the previous expeditions. The lore is really shallow and not aswell explored. Exploration is limiting and you can't easily just go exploring for some reason as you could in the previous game. And the bugs can be quite annoying. Overall and ok game but it drops south of being recommended. Would suggest on sale maybe.
Great game, detailed and fun if you like this genre. Worth the time, the story is good and has a lot of interesting historical parallels with real people and places, and makes for a convincing experience of being a viking in that era. Combat is enjoyable and there is quite a bit to do to achieve your clans goals. Ive played it a few times and might still come back to it.
