Fantastic game with a ton of content and a ton of systems.
Everspace 2 has pretty good writing and voice acting, and the gameplay is actually pretty solid. I don't care much about visuals but those were pretty decent too. For the most part, the moment-to-moment feels a lot like a modernized version of Freelancer, which is exactly what I was hoping for. My gripe with the game is almost entirely with the progression systems. The original Everspace had a couple of them but nothing too crazy, but in Everspace 2 they've multiplied like the cells of a malignant tumor, with about the same results for the health of their host. Your character levels up which comes with several different benefits, you can buy new ships with tiers and slightly randomized stats, your weapons have a level, rarity, slots for improvements called catalysts, variant types, and random modifiers. I think the idea of all of this is to give you lots of moments to feel excited about incremental improvements, but instead the system introduces unnecessary grind and RNG which aren't particularly fun, interesting, or even challenging to engage with but which are required to prevent your power level falling behind the enemies. Throughout the story campaign (which I was I think about halfway through when I gave up after TWENTY-SEVEN HOURS) the power level of enemies increases with only marginal increases to their complexity, so you never really feel like you're actually growing, just on an endless treadmill. The only exception is facing non-quest enemies in areas you've outgrown, where killing enemies just feels like pointless busywork. Overall, it just feels like a depressing amount of wasted potential. There was the skeleton of a good game, both in terms of building on ES1's mostly solid formula and making a few genuine if small improvements, but it's just so weighed down with grindy, random progression systems, content and systems bloat, poorly-fitted power growth, and general feeling that my time is not being respected. And the most tragic part is that pretty much all you would have had to do to get a great game is take what they already made and subtract. Its design wasn't lazy, or shoddy, or missing critical features that would take dev resources to fill in, it was just burdened down with nonsense that didn't need to be there and got in the way of the simple joy of flying around in a spaceship shooting things.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The "puzzles" in this game are just you flying around an environment blindly without a map of the local area to find like 2-3 interact-able objects for like 20 minutes and it's a huge time waster. Also some of the items that are supposedly common are actually super rare making crafting some items like catalyst a pain to where I search up guides to help me find them like I am playing an MMO or something. The dog fighting is top notch, blowing enemies up sounds amazing, like it's the crispest pop. It's just that what makes this game kinda a headache for me to play. Also last thing, there are so many loading screens in this game, sometimes I skip to distress calls or signals flying between locales because I just don't want to deal with them.
So much better than the first game. If you hated the first one, give this one a shot. Much more arcadey and no roguelike nonsense.
I search for quite some a time a replacement for Freelancer and here it is. The game initially seems very complicated, at least for me. The menu is very complex with crafting, upgrading and so much more. The trade/mining/smuggling could be more interesting/complex. All an all the game is fun, with beautiful graphics. There is one MAJOR minus that absolutelly drives me crazy. There is no continuity in gameplay: you are docked at some station and want to leave...black screen and loading; you fly around some asteroids and want to cruise to nearby planet...black screen and loading and only after THAT you cruise; approach destination... you guess: loading. I can't emphasize enough how annoyng is this. I mean c'mon, Freelancer figured this over a decade ago. The only reason I gave thumb up is that me (and most other gamers nowdays) have SSD nvme that partially mitigate this issue.
Imagine the Loading screens of Destiny 2 were the looter shooter. If that sounds fun, play this.
Fun game but gets monotonous fairly quickly.
A great fun single player game!!!
