I've dabbled over the years, but it took joining during a time locked server event to really get the feel for the game. Playing on Wuoshi with a ton of others doing low level content, a thriving auction house and helpful community members willing to group up, has really opened the game up to me in new ways. There's so much here, the real drawback is the dated UI and the inability to scale for 4k without using 3rd party stuff.
EverQuest II still feels like 'home' for me, even when I don't play for years at a time. There's something about the world, the character animations that just 'click' with me. Whereas most seem to find the graphics dated, I find them immortal. The combat is a bit disappointing - it's very spammy, far too many abilities available at once. Regardless, the world is the single most immersive online world, for me. Norrath, in the world of EverQuest 2, is truly a real, actual place and I will always hold it dear in my heart.

Old but fun :D
Everquest 2 really is rich in content. If you are like me and enjoy a blend between the Themepark (Wow) power growth, expansion to expansion, and Group Play with friends (raids!!, Dungeon!!). I Play this on the recent Wuoshi TLE, so it lets me play the earlier expansions and middle ones at a more QoL pace. To me as a Everquest 1 player, its the world of EQ2, the MASSIVE zones, the Lore come to Life, the deep rich stories in quest lines and "timelines" how they handle arching stories through quest lines. Classes are fun, graphics are great for me as I am used to even earlier graphic systems. Was in Solusek A dungeon other day as I go to learn Dragon Language so I can speak to LORD NAGAFEN! and Nostalgia hit me like a brick to the face, In Everquest 1 in 2001 or so, We would gather 50+ friends, buff, clear giants, and take on this giant red dragon, it was a major feat back then. The Sol A zone in EQ2 is SO HUGE in scope, eq2 does such a great job of bringing what was a tiny simple but creative space in these eq1 zones, and making them HUGE! and I have 25 expansions to experience of all this, so, ya its an older game, but it has a lively and nice community, i dont think they use steam launcher so mostly are on the daybreak, hence diff numbers. But its got life on TLE and having a fun time. Oh And i just started customizing my house instance tower, and this games housing system is DEEP, and amazing. All the best.
I've played pretty much every MMO out there and I can confidently say that this one is one of the bad ones. Interface is a nightmare, it takes 3 clicks to open one of the inventories. It takes 6 clicks to open them all and 15 clicks to close them again. My character randomly starts running around. I am sure there's a solution to that but I didn't bother. The game is free to play but it constantly opens a web browser trying to sell me staff. WHY? That was very annoying. Those aggressive mobile games comes to mind. Graphics are far worse than anything I've seen yet it still managed to heat up my laptop. Keep in mind that I play games like Elder Scrolls Online and Start Trek universe on maximum settings and my laptop just gets warm. EverQuest makes it hot like an oven. Probably because it is not optimized for modern PCs. I just downloaded because it had good reviews and wanted to try it out. Game page says 10 GBs but it is actually around 40 GBs.
STILL GOOD
No UI scaling means the game is unplayable.
It's a lot of fun when it is something you can put whatever time you want into it. Whether it is just running around and harvesting or crafting or pve or even pvp. The contested stuff is also super intense and rewarding if one can find the right guild to take it down or even collab with another party.
great story epic battles crafting purchase home and decorate multiple races and classes something for everyone
it's better than old school games...
