Surprisingly good progress since I played it intensively back in 2015, lots of new content, lots of new ships, a lot of stuff. Legit the most intricate and intense MMORPG. Keep in mind that this game was released in 2003 :)
This has been my main MMO since 2007, and it's still great. Just don't go into it expecting a modern solo-friendly MMORPG, EVE is a full-loot PvP sandbox with an extremely deep crafting system and completely player-driven economy, and you will only like it if all of those things appeal to you. There's no good PvE, the closest you'll get is abyssals (which are sort of like dungeons, and completely left out of the tutorial, ask for help getting into it in a channel like EVE University), and multiboxing is more or less mandatory for a lot of content, including hauling. You can play it without paying for it, but as a newbie this is a trap that will make you quit the game, because as a newbie you won't earn enough ISK to buy omega without grinding as a full-time job, so if the game appeals to you just buy omega for real money whenever it's discounted, which it typically is around the major holidays. The tutorial is absolutely useless, and you're better off watching guides on YouTube instead to learn the basics of combat (and more importantly, avoiding combat, using techniques such as local chat and d-scan). Don't be afraid to leave highsec, ships are ammo and can be easily replaced. The best introduction to the game you can have is to join a nullsec corporation, all the major ones have good wikis, and experienced players who will be eager to help you get started. If you insist on going it alone, my first week advice is this; the tutorial will tell you to mine to earn ISK, ignore it. Buy a cheap kestrel and start doing T0 abyssals, upgrading into a hawk for T1 and T2 when you have the skillpoints (and omega) to fly one. You'll earn orders of magnitude more ISK, and have a lot more fun besides. Don't be afraid to ask questions, most players will be happy to help you out if you are obviously new.

Advertido quedas.
Great fun.

The game is amazing in its deep mechanics and with a single server for all regions across the globe
