Reviews

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Is this a joke? Unreal Tournament has better character models than this game. It looks terrible not even in a fun stylized way. I've had more fun getting a splinter under my pinky nail than this has to offer. Don't waste your money or your time.
You'll see a lot of people on here with thousands of hours and a negative review. This game has been around a long while. Back when your choices for space survival sandbox were janky Space Engineers and janky Empyrion, this was the somewhat more polished and accessible game. Like SE, the developers keep supporting this game and releasing updates and content. Unlike the SE developers, they don't hit you every few weeks with a new DLC that adds some decorative blocks and not much else. Kudos to them for keeping it up. The game is a little less in-depth than SE (won't even talk about SE2, yet), but it's fun and the various races and space stations are a fun distraction. There's some things that are just fun to do -- like build big carriers and ships, go mining, traverse star systems, etc. There's different biomes and places to go. Take a look at the Reforged Eden mod. For the price and lower-end system specs, this is a fun game, more so if you have an older potato that won't play newer stuff. It has it's bugs, but nothing so shattering that you can't recover. It loads quick enough.
In spite of its legendary jankfest, Empyrion is one of the most enjoyable space exploration games I play (Elite, NMS, Avorion, X4, Space Engineers). The devs have really nailed the survival aspects, with mining, gathering resources, scavenging to do base building, crafting hovercraft, spaceships, then leaving the planet and exploring the universe. Elion keeps adding content on a regular basis so I think they are going to be around for a while. Community is great with lots of blueprints for ships, bases and scenarios in the workshop.
I remember the first time i played this game outside of steam through a special mean, it was a game of fun creativity with massive potential. Nowaday they changed the early game progression and now the fun disappear. Personally speaking, i would rather slave away mining that one huge ore deposit rather than running around getting scrap around the planet by walking the pretty barren landscape. Also it's laggy, not that it's unplayable by your average PC out there but it's pretty unoptimized, so there's that too.
INSANELY complex game. I get why some reviews compared this to Space Engineers. Another game that I uninstalled for mostly the same reasons. I got stuck multiple times on the tutorial. I got past quit a few stuck moments to find that it was a misunderstanding of the instructions or something silly. After 5.5 hours of struggling through the TUTORIAL and honestly it wasn't a terrible experience I finally lost my patience with the complexity and realized I was no longer having fun struggling through the learning process. I can see how someone who suffered their way through the insane process of learning how to play this game would have such intense sunk cost that they'd be locked in for life but for 99% of players who try this game its going to be a hell no and its just a matter of how long it takes to cross your threshold to uninstall this game. When this game offered a play for free for 3 days I really struggled to even give this game a chance and spent a ton of time in the player reviews trying to convince myself to play. I now understand why there a few players out there with 8000 hours played and I 100% understand why this game has TERRIBLE overall reviews. The idea of what a game like this could be is way more compelling then any game has managed to pull yet. Swing and a miss. Uninstalled
What makes this a yes is the mod community. W/o them as of now all be it fun, the game loses speed fast with things. Would be nice to see a little more flavor with planets so exploring feels more rewarding. That is my only real stinky finger i feel i need to point towards a dislike atm. But exploring, mining, base builds, ship builds, hunting, killing and/or being killed, Hours of fun to be had.
