Empire Earth II: Gold Edition

I absolutely loved this game growing up. I've had to resort to some risky methods to try and find and play this game again. I thought i was insane and maybe i was the only person who ever played this game. Until i decided to search it up on steam 2 days ago expecting to be dissapointed but low and behold there it was in all it's glory Empire Earth 2. Thank you to whoever put it on steam thank you for bringing back a huge part of my childhood

This second installment is to me the best in the series. It feels very much like playing the first game, just more polished and future proof to where you can still enjoy it over 20 years after its release. In case you don't know anything about Empire Earth but know Age of Empires, Empire Earth is much the same, just a lot crazier and with a much wider age progression starting at the stone age and ending in the future. This can lead to some really unbalanced fights, where one party can end up far behind the others technologically, literally throwing rocks at the enemies advanced artillery. This is however what makes Empire Earth so fun. This second game brought quite a bit of new features and overhauled the way the game was played. You here age up into a new epoch with research points instead of resources, there are also special resources available for certain epochs. Beside that they overhauled a bunch of systems like the crown system, tech trees, citizen management and road systems, but most importantly you can change keybinds! The enemy AI also seems to have improved a lot. It manages its resources well, spreads out quickly and plays pretty aggressively. However, the teammate AI surprised me the most. Throughout most of the game I found it really bad and annoying to play with. It just passively built up huge armies camping in my bases around the map, leaving me to crush the enemy alone. I thought it was just lazy and overly defensive until I crushed the last enemy on the map and my passive AI friend turned on me and destroyed everything I had in minutes. I find it kinda crazy that the AI prepares for this last sudden death phase of the skirmish from the very start of the game. The Romans were stuck in the early ages with archers and legions...they didn't surrender until I had an entourage of tanks, airplanes, machine gunners, and 4 ICBM missile and they had...1 citizen. 10/10 would nuke that one particular citizen with 4 missiles again

Finally it is on Steam! This is classic RTS and sequel to loved original Empire Earth. I used to play this a lot. Edit: We need working Steam overlay on this game.

Get it! All I can say. Best series in the world for RTS.
