Eclipse - 2nd Dawn for the Galaxy

Not perfect, but like another reviewer said, it functions well enough to let you try strategies in a little sandbox against computer players. It has frozen on me a couple of times on PC, so far no issues on Mac. Not a ton of effort was made to make the battles tense or interesting, but as a simulation of a board game, it definitely works

I like this game, because it gives me the opportunity to play and practice the game even when I can't gather enough friends for a weekend's play with the actual boardgame. This digital edition works well for me, there was some glitch with the buttons in the tutorial that caused the game to crash once, but that happened once only, and I haven't seen it when repeating the tutorial, or when playing actual single player games. The user interface could be smoother and make better use of both mouse buttons, there is also still one major problem at least in the tutorial when text does not line break properly, so the instructions are outside of the readable box. Yes, you can copy-paste the text into another editor to read all of it as a workaround, but it should also be easily fixed. But beyond that I really can't think of anything I'm missing right now. Except winning...

Really glad to see this on sale - but there are a lot of improvements still necessary. Its closer to an early-access game. But it does play and has the base game without expansions. The game needs some more polish and adding all the other races is crucial. voting no for now, but would reconsider if the updates continue.

My highest recommendation. Any number of players (2-6) makes for a good game. Supreme replayability due to the randomness of technology availability and system exploration. The ultimate space 4X game. NOTE: If the game doesn't let you populate planets in a system you conquered, it's not a bug -- you had no more colony ships available.
