Echoes of Above is a free-to-play action-adventure game developed and published by ISART DIGITAL that distinguishes itself through a focused gameplay concept built around defensive mastery rather than conventional offense. Instead of equipping players with an assortment of weapons or elaborate combat abilities, the game challenges them to survive by redirecting enemy attacks with perfectly timed deflections. This mechanic serves as the foundation for every encounter, creating an experience where patience, precision, and observation are more valuable than aggressive button-mashing. By centering the entire game around a single polished idea, Echoes of Above offers an experience that feels refreshingly original within the action genre. The story follows a warrior monk summoned by a fallen goddess to restore balance to a heavenly realm consumed by corruption. While the narrative remains intentionally straightforward, it succeeds in providing meaningful context for the adventure while allowing the world itself to become the primary storytelling tool. Inspired by Khmer culture and Buddhist mythology, the game's environments feature sacred temples, mystical landscapes, and divine architecture that help separate it from more traditional fantasy settings. This cultural influence gives the world a memorable personality, while the theme of purification and redemption adds emotional depth to the journey without overwhelming the gameplay. Combat is where Echoes of Above truly excels. Every projectile launched by enemies becomes both a threat and an opportunity, encouraging players to carefully study attack patterns before responding with precise timing. Well-executed deflections send enemy attacks back with devastating force, rewarding skill instead of character statistics. As players maintain successful defensive sequences, they unlock the powerful Mantra state, allowing reflected projectiles to gain additional speed, strength, and momentum. This creates exhilarating moments where a battlefield filled with incoming attacks can suddenly shift in the player's favor through flawless execution, making every victory feel satisfying and deserved. Enemy encounters gradually become more demanding by introducing increasingly complex attack patterns that require quick thinking and sharp reflexes. Rather than relying on larger health pools or artificial difficulty, the game expands its challenge by asking players to better understand positioning, movement, and timing. Each confrontation feels like a test of personal improvement, encouraging players to refine their skills instead of simply acquiring stronger equipment. This emphasis on mastery gives the gameplay a rewarding progression that remains engaging throughout the adventure. Accessibility is another notable strength. The game's central mechanic is simple enough for newcomers to grasp quickly, yet it possesses enough depth to challenge experienced action players seeking difficult, skill-based encounters. Adjustable difficulty settings make the experience welcoming to a wider audience while preserving the demanding nature of its more advanced challenges. This balance ensures that both casual players and genre veterans can appreciate the unique combat system at their own pace. The visual presentation complements the gameplay with colorful environments and carefully designed arenas that remain readable even during the most hectic battles. The top-down perspective allows players to clearly track incoming projectiles while appreciating the detailed environments inspired by Southeast Asian architecture and mythology. The contrast between peaceful sacred locations and corrupted landscapes effectively reinforces the game's central conflict, while vibrant visual effects make successful deflections feel impactful without becoming visually overwhelming. The sound design further enhances immersion through atmospheric music and responsive audio effects. Combat sounds provide immediate feedback for successful deflections, making each perfectly timed counter feel powerful and rewarding. Meanwhile, ambient music supports the mystical atmosphere of the divine world, helping maintain a sense of exploration during quieter moments between battles. Together, the audiovisual presentation successfully supports both the game's spiritual themes and its mechanically demanding combat. As a free-to-play release, Echoes of Above demonstrates how a carefully focused design philosophy can often be more memorable than a larger project filled with unnecessary systems. Rather than attempting to imitate bigger action games, it confidently develops its own identity through a combat mechanic that remains consistently entertaining from beginning to end. Players looking for extensive customization or a heavily cinematic narrative may find its scope somewhat modest, but anyone who enjoys games that reward mechanical skill, concentration, and mastery will likely find plenty to appreciate. Echoes of Above ultimately succeeds because every aspect of its design supports its central gameplay concept. Its distinctive mythology, culturally inspired world, rewarding deflection mechanics, and polished presentation combine to create an action-adventure that feels both fresh and satisfying. While it may not offer the expansive content of larger commercial releases, its originality and well-executed mechanics make it a standout free-to-play experience that rewards dedication and precision. For players interested in action games that emphasize timing and skill over brute force, it is an easy recommendation. Rating: 8/10

Super ce petit jeu, dommage que ça se passe pas en Chine...
I played for 48 minutes on PC with a controller and 100% the game. It is fun and easy to play. For a free game, definitely give it a shot, especially if you are younger and are having trouble with combat games.
i can not set the movement controlls to WASD, so unplayable for me
we need chinse!!! JUEGAZO 😎👍💛🌟
Have you ever played air hockey with several pucks on at the same time, or foosball with multiple balls and try to see which player scores the most? If you have that is the type of wonderful chaos this game provides. Gorgeous! Fun! Magnificent! Flying into the sky is beautiful. The game is just challenging enough and I never had to fight the controls. Marvelous visuals and there is even an achievement for breaking all of the vases. What else can you ask for? :D
респект за смелость сделать такое управление и не дать возможности его переназначить
Echoes of Above is a free action game that caught me off guard with how much it builds its combat around one simple idea. I play as a warrior monk exploring a mythical world that has been taken over by a strange corruption, but I am not using normal attacks to deal with most of the enemies. Instead, I have to deflect their projectiles back at them. That makes the whole game about timing and positioning, and I like how different it feels from a normal top down shooter. The combat is easily the strongest part for me. When an enemy fires at me, I have to wait for the right moment and hit the projectile back into the battlefield. If I keep getting the timing right, I can build up deflections and enter the Mantra state, which makes the attacks I send back much more powerful. I like that the enemies are basically giving me the ammunition I need. It means I am not just running around looking for weapons or holding down a fire button. I actually have to pay attention to what is happening around me. The game also does a good job of making the arenas change as I progress. I am fighting different types of demons with different attack patterns, and the encounters become faster and more crowded as I move forward. There are also environmental hazards and shifting parts of the arenas that make positioning more important. I like the fact that the game expects me to learn patterns rather than simply overpower everything. There are two difficulty modes as well, so I can either focus more on getting through the adventure or push myself with tougher combat. The setting is another thing I really appreciate. The world is inspired by Khmer architecture and Buddhist mythology, with ruined temples, sacred libraries, jungle areas, waterfalls and floating locations. It gives the game a visual identity that stands out from the usual fantasy settings I see in smaller action games. There are quieter exploration sections between the battles too, along with some environmental puzzles and hidden paths. I think these sections are important because without them the combat could start feeling like one long series of arenas. The biggest issue for me is the length. Echoes of Above is a small game, and I can get through the main experience without spending a huge amount of time on it. I actually think the short length suits the idea fairly well, but it also means the game finishes just as I am getting completely comfortable with the combat. I would have liked more areas, more enemy types and more situations that really pushed the deflection mechanic in different directions. There is a good foundation here, but I can see the potential for a much larger game built around the same system. I also had some problems with the controls on keyboard. The default movement uses ZQSD, which is clearly aimed at a different keyboard layout, and there is no proper way to change the key bindings. I find that particularly annoying on PC because the combat depends so heavily on precise movement and timing. Using a controller makes much more sense to me, but I still think basic keyboard customisation should have been included. It is a small problem compared with the combat itself, but it can make the first experience much less comfortable than it needs to be. Overall, Echoes of Above is a very impressive free action game considering how focused it is. I really like the deflection based combat, the Mantra system, the Khmer and Buddhist inspired world and the way the enemies force me to learn their attacks instead of simply shooting everything myself. The short length and awkward keyboard controls hold it back, and I definitely think the combat system could support a much bigger game. Even so, I would rather play something this focused and original than another small shooter with nothing new to offer. For me, it is a really good free experience that shows a lot of potential while still feeling complete enough to be worth my time. Rating: 7.5/10
