Jim wasn't always a studly super-worm. He was once just a spineless, dirt-eater with no real mission in his life...

This port LOOKS like the genesis version, it has the special edition music, but let me tell you, it is NEITHER of those things. It feels more like a flash remake of the genesis game than a proper port (it's still better than the infamous GBA port tho). Among the inaccuracies you will notice that the physics are nerfed/awkward, sometimes the SFX doesn't work, and the game becomes either too easy or too hard (especially the whip section in the second level). I would recommend you try and locate the ps3/360 version somehow, or find the PC version of special edition if you're looking for a proper port. But as this is right now, it's just not the game you think it is.
One of the greatest platforming games of all time, Absolutely Rubbish Port warning you will fail jumps because of the botched physics making Jim worse to control in the air. Avoid this port, emulate the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Sega CD or Playstation 3 Versions of Earthworm Jim on your PC. Or if you want to play the game officially, buy the Windows 95 CD Version on Ebay or Amazon & see if your PC can run it.

I thought "surely I can make this work," after reading all the negative reviews. Well. I can. However, it required a level of effort FAR beyond the reward. As others have said - you can just emulate a rom. I wanted to support this title in hopes that maybe we'd get more before everyone involved with the development was dead of natural causes. They've been teasing us for twenty something years now with "it's not a matter of if, but when." Well, I don't see any plans anywhere of ever getting another EWJ game. But to the point - this software is junk. I think all of us buying this is just enabling worthless grab-asses to get away with theft and possibly ensuring a new game will never be made. Why make a Shiny new game when you can get just as much money or more from a stale old turd?
Way too expensive for what's offered. These are the dos versions of the games, not the snes and n64, running on dosbox meaning there's no direct controller support. Also, games 2 and 3 aren't that great. If you really want to play these games I'd suggest you avoid this release and find other means to play them
good
Awful port job of a classic game. The original Earthworm Jim handles pretty superbly, and is a real joy to try even today. This version suffers from various physics problems, poor aerial handling (death-knell for a platformer), weirdly compressed OST, all the usual symptoms of a garbage port job. Not sure how the Steam release got bungled this badly, but there you have it. I suffered through this version for a few hours before giving up and just playing the Genesis version (google is your friend here; online emulators of classic systems exist for a reason). Give this a pass for sure.
The game itself is awesome -- a classic 2d platformer with a unique sense of humor. However, this release is not the best way to experience it: a dosboxed DOS version with a forced tiny window, crappy graphics and several missing levels. To enjoy this great game properly, find either the Windows or Sega version.
It's so bad, don't do it even for the nostalgia. It just barely works. Can't jump for one, tried keyboard and controller, I can't even get it to register controller input most of the time with and without steam input on. It is an absolute atrocious port. Edit: on linux, proton and no proton runs like above. Also thanks for the points Edit: Even have tried Roberta and Luxtorpeda and still did not work, I've tried everything changed it from launching dosbox to scummvm and it still has not worked. Edit: Boxtron worked: waiting on new gamepad to test for "controller support" literally just hoping steam input will work *yes I had tried rebinding before controller on M&K setup*
This makes me sad because I love the original games. This is the DOS version and not the SNES or Genesis version. Whatever they're doing here with DOSBox doesn't work well, if at all. There are a lot of issues with this, like the music not working, controls being screwy, etc. And somehow this is one of the more functional games in this collection?? You could probably complete the game in this state, but it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible. Don't buy this.
i really love earhworm jim franchise !but the port is broken and some of the soundtracks are missing and all of the sound effects from earthworm jim 2 ! earthworm jim2 only have music with no sound effect !
