Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.14/day in the week to Aug 10 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

"EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5" is a 9 year old Playstation 4 game that was dumped onto PC as nothing but a cash grab as far as I can see... okay, yes, there is a game here, but the developer is charging an insane, full AAA $60 price tag for a game that looks and plays worse than 2004's Half-Life 2. But wait, there's more... an eye watering, toxic $85 USD in content and cosmetic paywalled DLC you also have to buy if you want the complete game, bringing the price of this up to a completely insulting ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTY FIVE UNITED STATES DOLLARS.... for a b-grade 2017 Playstation 4 port. Disgusting, isn't it? The plot of the game is... well... this is kind of just a copy + paste of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4. Change some levels, reskin some stuff, try get paid for the same game twice. You're basically like a security/cop dude and you fight aliens. Yawn. There's some progression and lightweight RPG mechanisms but these boil down pretty quickly to a pointless feeling, repetitive grind. The wingsuits and power armors and weapons combinations might seem appealing, but on PC this works out to a kind of clunky and weak third person arcade shooter... it's not the worst but it's very far from the best. There's a strong multiplayer/co-op focus but not much of a lively population, so matchmaking probably won't get you far, soloing isn't easy, and if you try to convince your friends to play crappy PS4 ports from 2017 on PC, you soon won't have any. This is largely a dead game. On technicals... On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. The console port is pretty bad... it works, but it's clunky as all hell. For some reason, Playstation ports are always terrible compared to Xbox and even Nintendo Switch ports. If you play a badly ported console game on PC, the safe bet is to assume it's come from Playstation, and EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5 is a great example of that. Because this is designed for consoles, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the inferior console gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the console-centric developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for consoles forces upon a game. Once more, console peasants have made gaming worse for everyone. Due to the age of this game, and the lack of modernisation, the graphics appear quite dated. This compares poorly to more contemporary games with professional standards. Given that gaming is primarily a visual medium, this is a bit of a problem, so should be taken into account when considering whether to get this game. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. Should you buy this game? Is it among the best the Steam catalogue has to offer? EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5 has the gamer gouging price of $60 USD ($145 for the full game), for which you could easily get several brand new AAA games! The quality problems and defects with this game makes the asking price totally unrealistic. It's impossible to recommend this to gamers here on Steam, especially considering the unethical pricing. Honestly if this was a $5 game, it might even be worth it, but for $145 I have a long list of suggestions for the developers which I can't relate here due to Steam community guidelines about profanity and anatomical feasibility.

Japanese grind slop game like the previous ones Unplayable without the auto pick up mod On solo EDF 5 is the most boring open field experience you've seen (any class besides the wing diver will spend 60% of the time just walking) , or you're in a mission that has nothing but flying enemies and you can't even see anything as they do 360 degree drive by's The AI at times might kill something but they get in your way more than anything, in later levels they are basically useless I got to mission 97 but it's such a chore that I'll just drop it, might give EDF 4.1 a try again
I can't tell if the story and characters are secretly masterful, or if I've become unwell from 100%ing this game. All I know is that God is dead, hell is real, and Ranger sucks.
The game features truly epic battles and a great sense of progression throughout the campaign on NORMAL difficulty. There is a solid variety of enemies, and weapon types function fundamentally differently even within the same category. You have vehicles and four distinct classes that feel genuinely unique, plus co-op support. There are plenty of missions, and they are quite diverse. It is easily one of the best horde-shooters I’ve ever played. However, not everything is executed perfectly. It’s a shame that such a great concept is wrapped in outdated graphics with clunky animations, and many enemies often get stuck between buildings or rocks. I’m also disappointed that the entire loot and progression system breaks down when moving to higher difficulty levels. On Hard, the game only starts giving you new, better weapons starting from mission 50. On the highest difficulty, new gear only drops from mission 25 onwards, even though the enemies become exponentially stronger right from the start. I don’t understand the logic here; if you're tackling tougher campaign levels, it would be logical to continue player progression by providing upgraded weapon models immediately, starting from the first missions. Furthermore, the difficulty isn't sufficiently balanced by the weapons you receive. Enemies turn into damage sponges, gaining several times more health, while new weapons only provide a 1.5x–2x damage boost (and almost all new weapons are just slightly improved versions of the old ones). By the time I reached Hardest difficulty, I lost my grip on the overall game design. Regular ants deal 500 damage in close combat, and they get close often because you can't control the whole swarm due to insufficient DPS. As a result, the ants scatter and flank you from behind. For example, despite having nearly 2,000 HP, I failed a mission because two elite ants attacked me at close range simultaneously. A 10-minute mission ended in defeat just because I missed two attacks from elite ants. Perhaps this difficulty requires more health, but how much grinding does that take? One full campaign run nets you about +500 HP. It feels like you need at least 10,000 HP to feel somewhat comfortable on Hardest. With my 2,000 HP, does that mean I need to replay the campaign 16 more times before stepping up? Hundreds of hours of grinding? Or do I have to farm a single mission on Easy to get +5 HP per minute, which translates to 27 hours of farming the same map? It all feels excessively padded. That said, the way difficulty scales is conceptually well-done in many aspects. Enemies don't just become tankier and hit harder—they get faster, missions feature new events, and enemies fire more projectiles, making them more accurate. The difficulty is genuinely well-thought-out in terms of changing enemy mechanics. However, the loot system is also flawed because many weapons feel more like a joke than something viable for combat. The same goes for receiving weapons that are impossible to use solo because they require support from another class. Overall, while playing the solo campaign, I began to notice that many levels are designed strictly for co-op, where players can cover different lanes and classes can offset each other's weaknesses. When playing alone, the AI soldiers don't come close to filling the role of human players, turning some missions into a chaotic mess that is barely beatable on high difficulties.
