A bite-sized FPS with a cartoonish zombie apocalypse theme Dump of the Dead X is a Retro FPS developed by Drop_Dead_Fred running on the EFPSE engine. It follows some guy as a zombie apocalypse breaks out from the comfort of his bathroom and gears up to fight his way through the many, many hordes of zombies to escape this outbreak. While the game doesn't do too much to innovate with the EFPSE engine, that I know is possible to be done, it's a bite-sized adventure with a surprisingly dense amount of variety when it comes to visuals. Gameplay of Dump of the Dead X is basically the basic standard when it comes to EFPSE games. A slightly more advanced Wolfenstein 3D-esque level design with enemies, health and ammo placements, keys and secrets to find One of the more notable aspects of this game I haven't seen with other games like this on Steam is the sheer amount of enemies. Which considering the setting of a zombie apocalypse, makes total sense. Although there's only a few zombies that have different attack patterns from: "slowly walk towards the player" the use of them does make sense given the expectation of hordes of zombies. Weapons are pretty standard affairs with stuff like a uzi pistol, shotgun, machinegun in the form of two tommy guns and some more cartoonish weapons like a soda gun. Nothing too flashy but they get the job done and thanks to the high enemy count it's a lot more engaging than most basic EFPSE games. Now easily my favorite part of Dump of the Dead X is the artstyle and just the sheer amount of unique art assets and/or themes given for every single level. Firstly though the game has a very old shareware PC game look with it's bright and colorful zombies and other scenery while also strapping the main character with some insane firepower. Even though the whole game takes place at night there's still a ton of color used. As somewhat mentioned earlier each level also has it's own level theme but also meaning there's tons of zombie variations to fit said theme. Like wild western zombies for the mine level, swamp folk zombies for the swamp level or punk zombies for the city level, etc. While they all somewhat act very or exactly similar the fact there's so much to look at for such a small is pretty commendable. The music is also quite nice, especially the title theme. Overall, while Dump of the Dead X is NOT the most involved EFPSE title on Steam, for how much effort went into having a ton of visual variety for a short and sweet game it's pretty commendable. While it does tend to lose it's forward momentum near the end as a trend I've seen a lot of basic EFPSE games find themselves in. Thankfully it never became too terribly frustrating to just power through it. Although 6$ is especially a lot even with all the praise towards the amount of unique art assets, especially compared to games from some kind of DOS man or whatever. I would personally wait for a sale if the free demo wasn't enough to make you curious to try it!

Топовый шутер с отличной оптимизацией и приятной картинкой. Геймплей в лучших традициях «мясных» боевиков: многоуровневые карты, огромный выбор стволов и живое окружение, с которым можно и нужно взаимодействовать. Выглядит игра потрясающе, а затягивающий процесс заставляет возвращаться снова и снова.
