Reviews
This game is not too repetitive but extremely fun
Quaint, quick, relaxing game. Practically no replicability, but a good time sink.
Love it! There are a lot more options for different playstyles than initially expected. Fun to play and kill time with.

A disappointing Osmos/Agar.io clone that never delivers on its roguelike potential.
I went into Drifter Star: Evolution expecting an incremental game, but it's actually a roguelike inspired by Osmos and Agar.io (games where you control a small object, consume smaller ones to grow, and eventually become the biggest thing on the map). With that out of the way, since I enjoyed both of those games, I was hoping this would offer an interesting twist on the formula. Unfortunately, I came away disappointed. The gameplay feels slow, and the controls are sluggish. Since you're controlling celestial bodies, some inertia is expected, but it just never feels satisfying moving so slow in this type of game. The biggest disappointment is the progression. Rather than stacking upgrades throughout a run like most roguelikes, each new stage simply replaces your previous upgrade with another. You never feel meaningfully stronger, and the game loses the satisfying snowball effect that makes roguelikes so addictive. The game also lacks a save function, and there is no native controller support. You can work around the latter by configuring Steam Input, but it really should have been supported out of the box. Overall, I found it to be a slow and uninspired Osmos/Agar.io-clone that never justifies its roguelike label. The only reason I didn't refund it was because I bought it on sale for about $3.
Fun game for less than 5 bucks, can kill a few hours and if your a space enthusiast maybe a few more. Very much like the old Solar 2.
