Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
'This looks like the most terrible mix of differing types of gameplay. I must have it!' - RPS Commenter
An authoritarian state pacifying the masses with propaganda. A brutal police force that shoots first then shoots some more.
An ordinary everyman named Eugene, dragged by coincidence and circumstance from a life of mundane menial tasks into a baffling world of sudden, inexplicable murder, hidden conspiracy and unrelentingly lethal robots with nasty sharp pincers and lasers coming out of everywhere.
Depicted in a distinctive pixel art style the cyberpunk city crackles with tech-noir intrigue and neo-digital deceptions. Using every tool at your disposal help Eugene to unpick the knot of mystery that he has become enmeshed within – your equilibrium will be rocked as you point and click a path through this briar patch of tangled meaning and unexpected quixotic quirks.
Will Eugene make sense of the conundrum that unfolds before him, learn who is an ally or a foe and collect lots of vinyl records for his listening pleasure? He'll race rapid hover bikes to earn sub-cultural respect, rub shoulders with high society in a post-modern nightclub, hack the brains of pursuing drone cops in thrill-packed chase sequences, strive to survive tense shootouts with merciless law enforcers and enjoy some 8-bit cowboy coin-op action in a dingy dive bar with a broken toilet.
It's a tacky throwback to Another World / Flashback type of games but if it was a C64 bootleg. The controls are abysmal, especially with the gamepad (
hoverbike racing does not work with it and the flying drones escape sequence becomes unbearably difficult
), the action is bland, and you always get stuck in the textures - the whole game is a constant uphill struggle against the controls. The art is incohesive. There are few 80s pop culture references here and there that are so boring and overdone. The plot is literally non-existent and the characters' motivations make zero sense. The only somewhat redeeming quality of this game is its music. Skip it.

¡Pues bienvenido a DreamBreak!

Great music, pixel art, animation and all that retro vibe. Unfortunately the story is maximally simplified and doesn't use its potential. Still worth playing if you dig oldschool sci-fi platformers.
Buggy and murky from the start, these are not the only flaws that Dream Break doesn't bother to cover up. The line «a quirky and unique mix of clashing gameplay genres» had seduced me, but what I experienced was a fragmented and sterile work that has the unmitigated arrogance to sell itself as original and well-thought-out. Including mini-games that are completely alienated from the context is one very lazy way to mix gameplays genres, such that anyone could easily accomplish that... Indeed, that's not at all a unique formula.

▀▄▀▄▀▄ DreamBreak ▄▀▄▀▄▀
If you take the alternate history idea of a modern USSR, mix it with some Blade Runner influences and throw in the gameplay of Another World, then you would have some impression of what DreamBreak is about. While that does seem interesting, there are some design choices that sour the experience. You play as Eugene, a janitor who finds himself caught up in conspiracies, assassinations and maybe a societal collapse. The story is interesting, but considering the length of the game (around 60 min), it never really explores any of these ideas beyond the surface level. The world building is pretty good at first, with giving a real sense of place but the story rushes things too much to really see it grow. Some of the more noteworthy issues I have with this game is the controls. The gameplay is mostly akin to Another World, with moments of traditional point-and-click navigation. Now it was just fine for most of the game, however there are puzzles later on that are extremely time-sensitive to complete, creating a case of mental endurance rather than any kind of enjoyment. You are then forced into a clunky Space Invaders clone that is totally out of place that is quite tedious. The combat is simplistic of just comprising of a shield or firing your gun, it works but nothing special. There are also a few mini-games and pipe puzzles in the vein of Pipedream or BioShock. There are things I like about DreamBreak, but the design choices near the end are a trial of patience. I can only recommend this to those who are acclimated to the difficulty of early PC games. For most, this is a mixed review. You shouldn't pay full price, pick this up at a deep discount or in an indie bundle.
A USSR themed Sci-Fi that walks in the footsteps of Flashback. A bit crude with the controls but overall rather enjoyable.
