Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 8 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Dragon Star Varnir is a turn-based JRPG developed by Compile Heart and published by Idea Factory. It mixes dark fantasy storytelling with a layered battle system centered on aerial combat. The game’s mood and design lean toward gothic themes, blending tragedy, morality, and transformation. The story follows Zephy, a knight turned into a half-dragon after a fateful encounter. He joins a group of witches cursed with dragon blood, fighting both to survive and to resist their inevitable change into monsters. The narrative explores desperation and choice, pushing players to make difficult moral decisions about life and sacrifice. Combat is the game’s most distinctive feature. Battles take place on three vertical planes, and managing position is crucial. Characters can attack from above or below, exploit enemy weaknesses, and chain combos across layers. It’s a system that feels both strategic and dynamic once mastered. Character progression allows flexible customization. Each witch gains abilities by consuming dragon cores, unlocking spells and passive buffs. The “Devour” mechanic, used to absorb enemy powers, adds risk-reward tension—failing it can backfire, but success offers major benefits. This creates depth without overwhelming complexity. Visually, Dragon Star Varnir presents detailed character art and stylized environments typical of Compile Heart’s anime aesthetic. While the 3D models are modest in fidelity, strong color direction and smooth animations carry the presentation. The gothic tone and creature designs give the world a distinct identity. The soundtrack complements the setting with atmospheric, orchestral tracks and haunting melodies. Voice acting—available in both Japanese and English—adds emotional weight to major scenes. The audio design supports immersion without being intrusive. Overall, Dragon Star Varnir stands out for its inventive combat and emotionally charged story. It’s not technically ambitious, but it compensates with heart, style, and creativity. For players who enjoy dark fantasy JRPGs with layered strategy and character-driven drama, it’s an underappreciated gem worth discovering.

Dragon Star Varnir is my favorite Compile Heart game, and in my top 10 RPGs of all time. I have already played through it twice on Playstation and decided I hadn't had enough yet, this time playing on PC. Without spoiling too much, the narrative has an interesting take on the idea of making the best of a bad situation, and has lived rent free in my head since my first experience with the game. The story follows Zephy, a knight of the Empire, on a crusade against witches. When his life is nearly ended by a dragon, and is subsequently saved by two traveling witches, existences he is supposed to hate, Zephy's world is turned upside down. Zephy finds himself caught between his duty as an imperial knight and his newfound compassion for the witches that saved his life. This kickstarts an emotional adventure that has highs that few games can match. If party member interactions and character development are what draws you in to an RPG, you will not be disappointed with Dragon Star Varnir. Combat has a fun twist on the traditional turn-based RPG system as well. There are three tiers to combat, and allies and enemies can fly to one of three altitudes to find an advantage to combat. Also, consuming dragons that you run into is a big part of Dragon Star Varnir. Finishing a dragon by devouring it will unlock an ability grid where you can learn new skills for the character that consumes it. This classless system allows for total freedom for building your party members for whatever playstyle you could desire. If you are looking for an obscure RPG after playing all the big, AAA names in the space, or just an anime stylized adventure with a big focus on character development and emotional storytelling, give Dragon Star Varnir a spin. I highly recommend it to RPG and anime fans alike.
They've really designed the perfect system to force you to grind through RNG hell with this game. Imagine you have 4 pokemon, right? And every time you want to get a new pokemon you need to throw a pokeball (which can fail). Except here, all FOUR of YOUR pokemon need to throw a pokeball. And sometimes you need to catch the same one multiple times before you can even use it! That's how skills work in this game. It's an absolute nightmare. And, unfortunately, it's literally the entire hook of the game. And to make things worse, if you use features that help in this endeavor? It gives you the bad ending of the game! Who thought this was a good idea!?
Best emotional roller coaster ever if you want your feelings destroyed and you like good strategic gameplay this game is for you.
Bad points: 1. Needing to switch character to traverse the area. ---------------- 2. Plot and Flow Play halfway, some of the dialogue makes no sense. The plot is that, you eat dragon meat, you can prevent yourself from turning into dragon, which is fine, but what the characters does, is mind boggling. Character A likes the party, character A sees her friend turning into dragon from not eating dragon meat. Character A still refuses to eat dragon meat because she likes the party. <<<What?! Character B felt like she's turning into dragon, party need to go through a barrier which they must eat the boss dragon's meat, else they will turn into dragon. Character B secretly skip on eating the meat, and go through the barrier, only to say 'Get away from me!' Why? Why not just NOT go through the barrier? Why choose to go through, then tell the party to get away from her? Party met Character C, character C assumingly killed party's families. Party let character C join them and help character C. Even though this is a fantasy game, and there are magics and fictional monsters, atleast make the plot and flow make sense! ------------------------------- 3. Devour mechanics: Every single character need to devour normal monsters to unlock that 'core', And you have to manually set which skills to use, with limited skill slots. ------------------------------- 4. Monsters : Some monsters are atrocious, one of the example is that it has really high evasion. It can even wipe out your party before you can even land a single hit. This is with me using the best DLC gear, at easy mode. ----------------------------- 5. Time limit : As everybody said, this is one of the worse design. If other games can make you farm for gears or level before final boss even destroy the world, why can't this game make your little sister 'endure their hunger' until you save the world? ----------------------------------- Good points : Sexy models. Rating this game a 3/10 because of those eye candies. Feels bad giving low rating but bad is bad. Just play other games like fairy fencer F advent dark force or neptunia rebirth 1,2,3,vii.(not the viir version). Atleast their stories and game mechanics are more interesting and more player friendly. Can't even recomend this game even when it has 80% discount. I am just trying to complete this game because I don't want to waste my money.
