Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

When i first played this game i had no idea what to expect i just new it was a fantasy, really well liked RPG with my childhood hero Steve Valentine so i had no idea how good it was going to be. I didn't think i would even enjoy this game that much but i ended up loving the characters the choices and the storyline and the world so much it was my first true rpg game and i felt a connection with it even bigger and better than i did with Skyrim. There is so much to love about this game i loved the feeling of completing the original series. the openings are a bit of a drag to get through but at the same time very sissifying i love the lore of this series and also the online community. This game also has such a pretty artstyle, a bit violent at times but still fun i love how the fighting system works, the battles feel so epic and so tense too. I love the iconic sounds of the fade which are now featured in almost every reality tv show. I even found myself really enjoying minor characters who aren't even involved in the main storyline the writing of this game is fantastic. I played this way before mass effect and by far Bioware's best game.

Oh my goodness! Can't believe I haven't reviewed this up till now. This is a flawed masterpiece. It's unfortunately a little tough to play on modern hardware, you'll need the 4gb update, but after that Vanilla is still amazing. The game has a depth of writing and character design we don't get anymore. The gameplay is really solid, it starts off a bit slow in my mind, I remember back when I got it as a teenager I struggled landing hits in the early game since it does have that DnD core design. That said it far surpasses it in the mid to end game in my mind. I wish games like this were made more often these day. The only thing that's solidly trounced it was BG3, which is poetry in a way. This was Bioware's way to escape BG after making 1 and 2 and the skill and talent they had at that time wasn't topped until the next generation of passionate game creators came in and picked up were they left off. I'd say even now in 2026 this is 100% a worthwhile play if you like strong character and story writing and don't mind a slower more tactical character system. Update: I still believe this is a crazy good game, but EA has done what it can to make sure this is not a great way to get it.. Personally, I despise EA, I say buy this here because you don't have to use the EA launcher, then follow a guide on how to get this working as of 2024, there is an awesome guide on doing it. Don't give EA anything more than you have to. They do not care about the consumers, and if they did, they wouldn't have "updated" the files in 2021 just to make it so the DLC doesn't work and the game itself crashes constantly. I owned this version since 2012 and it's always been solid. Just EA wanting to force people onto their not very good platform.

This game is pretty great.
