Honestly this is a great no stakes game and someone who is not super Disney obsessed I could enjoy the wholesomeness of it.

if youre concerned about the microtransactions and expansion packs, don't be. the game and its expansions usually go on sale with every new release of a pack, and they're not necessary for your enjoyment of the game. if you can only get one pack, i highly recommend wishblossom ranch since the horse is well-made and amazing for all of your dreamlight duties and such. i won't deny that the expansions may seem predatory in nature because of the walled off characters, but i personally believe it contributes to the longevity of the game, and allows us to have funded free updates that can go out to all players. the game has come a long way since 2023 and its amount of amazing updates for FREE should not be understated. the microtransactions in this game are purely cosmetic and do not have any actual affect on you as the player and your experience. furthermore, you can unlock these things for free simply by doing dreamsnaps and voting on other people's submissions. if you purchase any expansion, they do give you free moonstones to use on the microtransaction shop. even the battlepass is manageable (i.e. star path) without paying money. you do not need to spend a penny more than you want to and there's no reason to be worried about that as of 9/21/2026. it COULD become terrible in the future, hence the importance of me putting the date there, but i personally am optimistic the game will remain in this state after playing it for about almost two years. that all being said, i would like a disclaimer to add that i personally have bought all the expansions and will be purchasing the upcoming ones. i have purchased large moonstone packs but only because they come with adorable exclusive cosmetics, and i was not hurting for the money. it was my personal choice to do that and it doesn't mean that this game is predatory. all of that is important for me to say prior to my review because i feel its one of the biggest points of contention when it comes to this game. it has been a big concern pretty much since it first released three years ago. for the actual review, this game is essentially a cozy game with but a disney gimmick and an in real life time clock. the real life time will affect the time of day in your game, and when real time passes, your crops will grow and your harvestables/mining-ables will refresh. this game is less like stardew valley as the name might make you think, and a lot more like animal crossing, but with quality of life improvements and characters who will actually help you. the villagers of your valley will actually be super important to harvesting and mining efficiently, as they will accompany you and give you bonus resources that you would not be able to achieve on your own. they also, thanks to free updates recently, can now go get resources for you if you are best friends with them, without needing to be in your companionship. the next day they'll have what you requested, and this is honestly a great way to feel emotional attachment and community to your valley. the story is heavily understated. you wouldn't think it'd be good but its REALLY good. i became surprisingly attached to the plot. my boyfriend and i have appreciated over the fact that the story isn't afraid to be dark or touch on deeper topics; even though disney is in the title, the game has a genuinely good plotline and i highly recommend completing the main story. its a lovely exploration of growing up and the grief that comes with it. the main gameplay loop is that you'll farm and mine to get resources you need to craft or sell in order to purchase furnishings and clothes to customize your valley to your heart's content. if you want fancier stuff, you can use free moonstones or buy moonstones to purchase cosmetics from the microtransaction shop. you also will participate in events which can give you moonstones and other rewards, such as unique in-game items you can also use as clothes or furnishings. when there's a star path, you'll probably want to do that to get even more cool stuff to use in your valley. there's good quality of life features that make it easier and enjoyable to decorate without feeling stiff or requiring immense grinding (unless you're hyper-fixating on crafting a really expensive path *cough* gemstone *cough*). but that's not the only thing you can do in the valley: a great quirk about this game in particular is that you do actually interact with the disney characters beyond just them being set dressing for your cozy game. as i said earlier, they'll actually help you, and you can develop a friendship with them from hanging out with them, doing quests, giving gifts, and chatting with them. each character has their usual story from their original media, but will also come with a twist that is connected to the valley's main story (the forgetting). even if you don't like a lot of disney media, the game is enjoyable beyond a nostalgic factor; i know people who play this game without having religiously devoured disney propaganda in their youth. ultimately, this game is great IF you already have a disposition towards cozy games but with a live service edge that allows for constant new updates and fresh content. if you love disney, you'll probably love this even if you're not a gamer. if you are a gamer looking for a cozy game, this one is a good one for your collection, but note its differences from other games like stardew valley or fields of mistria, it'll be more like palia or a humanized animal crossing with extra steps.

one of my favourite games, you can quest, build, the story is amazing the game and all the DLC's are cheap and there's so much to do in the main game and dlc's, they are always updating the game
