Equip weapons from seven different classes to play in seven different ways! Whether you want to use the tried-and-true sword or the ranged bow, you can always switch your weapon to switch up the way you play!
The more things Magichange, the more they stay the same! Grind levels, improve your equipment, and pass new bills at the Dark Chocolate Assembly to make the numbers go up until you're dealing a million damage with every hit! You can even recruit classic demons like the Prinny to bring along with you!

Magichange into Action: Take direct control of the combat in this action RPG spinoff of the Disgaea series! Beat down hundreds of enemies with classic Disgaea weapons, including the sword, gun, fist, and axe!
Grind Up to Get Down: It wouldn't be Disgaea without the ability to get stronger. Head to the Item World to power up your equipment, reincarnate for higher base stats, or grind out levels to make sure you're at the top of the food chain!
Satisfy Her Cravings: It takes a demon to feed a princess! Princess Tichelle loves her flan, and N.A. loves a paycheck. By working together, they can both get what they want! Dessert brings people (and demons) together in this light-hearted tale.

The Good: -Weapons (mostly) feel fun to use and are a neat take on the tactics versions -Skills and counter system feels good to use -Monster buddy system and magichange is neat -Plot is a Disgaea plot -Character worlds make a comeback The Bad: -Only one character to play as -Price tag (I'm with the others on the $30) -Volume balancing and quality need help -The mechanics are all explored in about 3 hours -Character world isn't very engaging (when compared to D5) -Item worlds have no unique special rooms and are visually uninteresting The Ugly: -The shaders (pretty sure) are way overtuned to be extra bright and they look terrible -Model resolution could (and should) be higher, but might be related to poor optimization -Essentially unplayable on Steam Deck (works fine on standard Windows machine) Summary: Worth it if you can grab it on a sale, you like musou/warriors games, and don't expect the same production quality as the tactics games.
I would recommend this game - on sale. It simply isn't long enough or polished enough for a price of $60. That doesn't mean I didn't have fun - in fact, the item world really kind of puts you into the zone, you can really enjoy runs in it. An interesting twist on Disgaea. I've been playing Disgaea for 20 years. I think the story is so-so, but the main characters are exactly what you'd expect from a Disgaea game. The dialog is as charming as any other Disgaea game in my opinion. There were times that I really did feel like I was just playing ARPG Disgaea. I do wish there was more monster variety. There really aren't any of the 'human' characters, though I really don't know why. The models exist, seems like an 'easy' thing to do. The AI is pretty bad, the best the enemies will do is TRY to circle around you. Some of the pathing is terrible, and more than once I saw enemies get stuck on level geometry (lack of polish). The graphics work well enough, the game runs fine. The music is pretty great, exactly what I'd expect. Given how SHORT the game is, it seems like all of the dialog could have been voice acted, not just chunks of it. There are moments I was blasting enemies away and didn't realize I was missing dialog. Again, I think it's a fun game, but not worth the price tag.

First, this is a fun depart from the usual Disgaea format. The story so far is as ridiculous as you'd expect which means its light hearted and enjoyable. Nothing ground breaking by any means, but at least provides a nice interlude between fights. Battles are quick and rewarding with its drops and experience gains. Will certainly make me go for reincarnation so grow yet even more for sure. The spells/power variations among different and same type of weapons make it not a bore to swap out weapons. Next the random grimes I've noted: * In battle, no voice overs for text. Makes the mayhem just lose its rhythm. * The graphics are so pixelated even at 2x2 super resolution on 1440p UW and dynamic resolution off and minimum resolution set to 99. Max settings running at 105fps in battle and 130fps in "overworld" with those settings enabled. * There really needs to be easier item management. It would be much better if you could toggle things as junk for easier mass selling without accidents. * The key bindings for power moves is a little non-standard on keyboard with a B + BINDING sort of situation. Easy to get used to... just an odd choice. Looking forward to playing more and updating this review.
I went in not expecting much seeing the discussion, negative reviews and it not being traditional Disgaea game, but I decided to give the game chance and play it through once on stream and...I actually enjoyed what is here. Starting out seemed not that interesting but once you try and unlock things you realize it has lots more in common with the Tactical RPG Disgaea games that it first leads on, and theres lots to do here, even if the story is a bit short. What I liked about the game? - Lots of mechanics and generic characters from Disgaea games makes it feel familiar. - They brought back Chara World (eventhough pretty simplified). - Story and characters are pretty fun and ridicilous. - Item World feels also more fun and not as tedious or takes as long. - Some of the characters designs are great and I like this games proportions better than the 3D chibis in the previous games. - Lots to do besides the story and lots of levels to gain. - all weapons act differently and it was interesting to try them all out. What I didnt like about the game? - The price tag of 60€ (or $60 USD) is too much for what is here i feel, Id say 40 would have made this more worth the money. - Only one playable character. - Story is very short. - Many of the long range weapons are hard to aim, they should auto-aim once you lock-on but only the staff does that making it the best ranged weapon. - Feels like the most interesting buddies (aka the recruitable generic characters) were locked behind the also over priced DLC just to make you buy it. Overall, I had real fun time with this, the only concern is the price which is too much in my opinion. Wait for a sale then pick this one and give it a go, you might find youself spending a lot time on it like I did!
At first glance, $60 does feel a little steep, but that said, I've had a blast on this game so far. The missions are quick and never feel like a drag, and the game play loop is both addictive and satisfying. The story's a comedic riot that toes a fine line, being silly but not stupid nor shallow. The progression system manages to fuse the level grind with the scale of some of those incremental idle games, but without making it feel like the typical treadmill that so many games have become these days. To me these are truly some impressive feats, even if the graphics and gameplay aren't setting new high water marks. Obviously NIS made some choices to optimize for arcade-style replayability rather than a typical "play it once" story-driven single player game. It's not a perfect game by any means, but I'm glad it exists and happy I bought it.
Really bad animation. There is dialogue not voiced that is going on during action. This is just not worth the price tag, even for die hard fans. I didn't make it past 2 minutes.
I mean- it's alright I guess.... Feel like it's a game I can go braindead on, since most of the time I'll spend 99% of the time in the item world grinding. NOT worth the full price, but I still having fun I guess
I need more games like this. I need more games like this. I need more games like this.
