Diablo II: Resurrected – Infernal Edition

Always been a huge Diablo 2 fan, since the original release and through LoD. I never expected an expansion (even after D2R), and while there is certainly a LOT of quality of life improvements, I really cant recommend it right now. It is the most unstable release in D2 history. Simply put it crashes A LOT. Doesn't matter if I'm on Windows with Intel and Nvidia hardware, or linux (cachyos) on AMD hardware. This expansion has crashed more than the base game had over 20 years of playing. I don't think I had a single crash on D2R base release but this is awful. It seems to be completely random, and just ruins trying to level, farm, or magic find. No error message, just one second you're playing and then you're at your desktop. There are no corrupt files, I have no failing hardware, this is the only game that crashes. The other big complaint is that you CANNOT use classic graphics mode with the warlock expansion. You can with the base D2R but not this. Why? All you had to do was make a few new classic-styled assets! Instead, pressing G just reminds you of what was given to you on D2R and taken away almost immediately. Blizzard is no stranger to the bait and switch lies (see also Overwatch 2), but this is incredibly lazy. I love the classic graphics mode, even on modern hardware. The fact that I can no longer do so without creating new base D2R characters is just stupid. Another example of a great game simply ruined by blizzard greed and oversight. If you have D2R, don't upgrade until they fix the crashing. Its just not worth the hassle.

I got this to play with the new class after playing the original all my childhood. I built a character from a plan, then a class feature removed for balance rather than just balancing stats. If they limit off-hand to only tomes, we need better tomes. Having a level requirement of 85 (out of 99) on the only decent tome locks them out of play for most of the game. I won't recommend a game I am put off from playing.

This is how you do a remaster. Graphics and QoL improvements without touching the core game. Diablo II was the first game that got me hooked on online multiplayer back in 2003. Now, 23 years later, I get to experience it all over again. They don't make games like any longer. You owe it to yourself to experience Diablo II.

tried to install, cant connect t blizzard account. contacted blizzard support. no reply. reminded me why i stopped buying blizzard games, refunded.

It's not every day a 30 year old game with two sequels gets a brand new expansion! And the "resurrected" additions are so welcome, even all these years later.
