Rediscover the dark fantasy classic that defined the modern ARPG genre; fully remastered with a new class, fresh content, quality‑of‑life upgrades, and an overhauled endgame. Chain brutal skill and item synergies, rise in power, and carve through Hell’s armies with up to eight players.

I wanted to write a review......... sorry no time i gota get back to playing its just so good.
Sadly, I spent a bit too much money for a bit of nostalgia; anyone thinking they can just sit back and play offline is mistaken. Blizzard is constantly annoying you with their online crap, either you get disconnected, or an update forces you to redownload the entire game, or most recently: The game hangs right at startup while trying to contact the Blizzard servers... followed by an "AppHang," and that’s it. Even after redownloading, it still doesn't work. How simple it used to be to just pop in a CD and play the game, it’s just infuriating now. You’re either forced to go online or create an account, or you have to deal with annoying launchers and then they wonder why people are upset. That was the last Blizzard game for me.
I've been playing Diablo 2 for nearly 25 years, and somehow this game still finds ways to keep me coming back. With the release of Reign of the Warlock, I'm enjoying Diablo 2 more now than I have in years. The new expansion feels like it was made by people who understand why so many of us have stayed loyal to this game for decades. The quality-of-life improvements are excellent—they modernize the experience without taking away what makes Diablo 2 special. I was especially excited for the new Warlock class. After the recent balance adjustments, it feels strong without being overpowered. It has its own identity, offers interesting build options, and fits naturally alongside the original classes. It's incredible that after 25 years, Diablo 2 is still evolving while staying true to its roots. If you've been a longtime fan, this expansion is absolutely worth playing. And if you've somehow never experienced Diablo 2 before, there's never been a better time to start. 25 years later, and I'm still saying "just one more run."
I played the game for a single day and a half and woke up to an email saying my account was permanently banned and that support would not overturn the decision. All I did was play with my friend running through most of the game on the first day, and the next day while playing by myself I was doing The Countess runs for runes. Literally nothing else. Permanent ban for playing the game like anyone would. Will never buy another Blizzard product again.
Having played the original Diablo II years ago, returning to this remake felt like revisiting a classic with a fresh coat of paint. The remastered graphics look fantastic while keeping the dark atmosphere and addictive gameplay that made the original so memorable. The updated quality-of-life features make the experience much smoother without changing what made Diablo II special in the first place. Whether it's chasing rare loot, experimenting with builds, or reliving iconic moments, the game still captures the magic that kept players hooked for countless hours. While some of the new content may not be groundbreaking, Infernal Edition is a great way to experience one of the best action RPGs ever made.
i am not logging into anything to play a 20 year old game
Bought game, load game, tells me to go outside the store I bought it from to paste in a code like it's 1995 before it'll let me play. ♥♥♥♥ right off, refunded.
When Diablo 2 was originally released, I didn't get around to playing it until some years later, and by that time I was already used to playing games at a higher resolution. I couldn't get the original to run above 800x600 dpi, and I gave up on it very quickly. Years later when studios started remastering games, I thought Diablo 2 would be the perfect candidate. I got my wish here in 2026, and I can safely say it was worth the wait. I'm a fairly lazy gamer, I don't like to dink around with settings that much. I like to sit down, double click the game icon, and start playing. Based on my computer, all settings were maxed from the beginning. The game looks amazing at 1080p or 1440. It looks like the lighting effects have all been updated, and the game runs smooth as silk. The only issue I had was getting into Battle.net to start playing. I haven't touched that website since playing WOW well over a decade ago. After figuring out the login and initial setup, it's been pain free so far. I'm about to finish the 2nd chapter and haven't had a single hiccup to speak of. As far as where Diablo 2 belongs in the ARPG hierarchy now that I've put some time into it, I don't think it surpasses Grim Dawn, as I like the inventory size and itemization much better in that game. But the story, locales, music, along with the classic hacking and slashing are still top notch, and worthy of a play in 2026. I haven't tried an online campaign yet, I may down the line, after I finish the main story. Perhaps Blizzard Entertainment hasn't made the best choices with the Diablo franchise through the years, but I can appreciate this remaster, and I think anyone who missed it back in the day will as well.
> Sign into Battle.net and launch game from Steam as per the requirement > Game says I haven't been online for 30 days so I can't play > Told to authenticate product through Battle.net to play > Can't exit game to do this so have to Alt+F4 > Authentication fails with Battle.net because it says I don't own it > Decide to sign out of Battle.net because it's a complete mess > Then launched game from Steam whilst signed out of Battle.net > Game then miraculously works because Battle.net is authenticated!? WTF. What an absolute joke these third party launchers are. This is by far worse than Ubisoft Connect and EA Play because at least those just sit in the background now and simply authenticate your ownership of their products bought on Steam at the click of a button in your Steam Library. You don't even have to visit their store or even login if your session is maintained. This game also demands you are online at all times even if you are playing entirely offline in-game. Blizzard are happy to force their store down your throat but the actual mechanism that links your purchase on Steam to your Battle.net account does not work as expected. This is a complete and utter embarrassment in 2026 especially from a company who is announcing games leading up to 2030. Avoid game at all costs. This is a prime example of a once-iconic title being turned into a live-service game whilst stripping away all consumer ownership rights. I only managed to play the game through sheer luck because Blizzard can't seem to understand how their platform is integrated into Steam and it raises alarm bells how easily players can be denied access to their paid games through fault or deliberate means.
