Score: 2/5 The Good 1. Drawn art style is very solid. Interesting, colorful variety of character/creature designs. 2. Many solid mechanics, including creature collection, perma-death. The Bad 1. Sound mixing is atrocious, often extremely loud at the beginning of battles. 2. Balance is all over the place. 3. Animations are very lacking. 4. Poor quality writing. Maybe translation issues? It was difficult to understand what the consequences of my actions would be inside and outside of combat. 5. Finicky, clunky combat controls. I would often have to click an action twice to get it to register. Interface/system lacks a few core QoL features present in many other competing deck-builders, like unneccessary extra required clicks for most actions as opposed to click and drag, and again extra clicks to end each turn. Pointless extra clicks posing as "choices" for combat rewards where you have no information on what the differences are. 6. The intro sequence is rough. Tutorial does not give you enough information on how the game's less common mechanics work. Character's goal and the delivery for the narrative exposition are lame.
A boring card roguelike. I played this game back when it was in early access, and at the time, it seemed to me that it had some interesting ideas that could be developed. But back then, the game felt too raw. Unfortunately, not much has changed since then. The only merit of the game is the art. The characters, locations, and monsters are beautifully drawn. But that’s where the visual advantages end. The interface, fonts, and icons are poorly designed and don’t really fit together. In terms of gameplay, there are many ideas that could be interesting for the genre, but none of them are properly developed or executed well. Here are a few examples: there are 15 playable characters, defeated monsters can join your party and help you in battles, and you can freely move around the game map, allowing you to return to unfinished fights or revisit shops at any time. The main problem with all these mechanics and the gameplay as a whole is balance. All the "unique" character abilities are very weak and have little impact on the game, just like the abilities of the monsters in your party. Most of the monsters are weak, and while the game expects you to level them up, the costs for upgrading are too high, and most of the time, the monsters that join you die within a few battles. Overall, there are very few ways to heal, and when you can heal, it’s usually for a very small amount of health, while enemies deal a lot of damage. The cards semselves are quite boring and build your own build you will not be able to, which is a verdict for a card-based roguelike. On top of that, the cards are either too weak or too strong, and with the game's balance issues, you'll rarely get a chance to upgrade them. Destiny or Fate is yet another example of why you shouldn't release a game in an oversaturated genre if you can't offer something new with solid execution.
