Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Jul 21 → 28.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Optionally, you can also play in sandbox mode where economy is not in focus - where you can just have fun doing anything you want without consequences.

Take part in a dynamic industrial chain, where deliveries are procedurally generated for more than 80 cargo types. The output of locations varies, and almost no two deliveries are the same. Haul cargo between industries, or do the shunting and logistics that help the stations create more deliveries. Pick orders and move cargo as desired, according to your own plans, licensing and hauling capacity.

Experience in-depth intricacies of six realistic, accurate steam and diesel locomotive classes with varying transmission types, plus some extra vehicles. Through behavior, sounds, physics and interaction, their characteristics are designed to fully immerse and challenge you. On top of that, you'll find yourself spontaneously involved in coupling, servicing, brake securing, shunting and other railroad procedures.

As a side activity, you may find yourself investing time and money finding and restoring unique locomotive variant derelicts, which you can then customize with numerous useful gadgets. Gadgets are various devices that can improve driving performance, such as digital speedometers, clinometers, colored ambient lights, distance trackers, etc. You can buy them in shops and install them wherever you want, using various tools.

Built from the ground up for both PC and VR, Derail Valley lets you experience it spatially present with the supported mainstream PC VR devices - truly inside the simulator and using your own hands to operate the controls. This is the ultimate, closest experience to being a real railroader! You can seamlessly alternate your progress between the PC and VR sessions, as you prefer.

Be it a derailment, collision, blown traction motor, boiler explosion, brake failure, HAZMAT disaster or even something as mild as wheelslip on a rainy slope, Derail Valley doesn't just present you with a popup screen when you make a mistake - you get to experience the full consequences of your actions, even if they're a rare occurrence.
Whether you are new to trains or an experienced veteran, the game features tutorials that are quick to get you going. A comprehensive user manual also exists, for when you want to dive deep into the details.

Eigentlich wollte ich nur ein bisschen Zug fahren... Jetzt lerne ich Dampflokomotiven... Einfach saumäßig gut!
if you like trains get this

cool
yes its hard at first but one of the best train sims i have every played
TL;DR: This game is great and you should buy it. To explain my review, first I have to give some context. I am someone who has been enthusiastic about trains since I was a child, typical autistic hyper-fixation, and for most of my life I have been disappointed with most train games. I started out with Locomotion which just bored me out of my mind, and while I know Locomotion is a good game, it's just not for me. I don't enjoy watching trains from above and telling them where to go and what to do as if I'm some all powerful master railway controller. I always wanted to be the guy in the train, pulling the levers, pressing the buttons, flipping the switches, etc. Eventually I heard about Railroads Online, and I became hooked on it. But after years of minor additions ending with the abandonment of the game after its full release update, it has left me disappointed with the lack of polish or content. It was supposed to eventually come with buildable towns and passenger delivery, promised features that never came. Now it has no direction or point for me, the only redeeming feature being that you could place down your own tracks if you want. It has signs of in-depth mechanics that were being developed, but those ideas were never finished. So Railroads Online too has let me down. Don't even get me started on the new Thomas game. Don't get me wrong, I love Thomas and I love that the game is trying to bring a fun experience to adult fans of the show, and I love how detailed the character models are and just how great they look. But that game is a complete mess. It's buggy, confusing, and lacks content and polish. Characters who I expected to be in the game by default are either locked behind a DLC or are not present whatsoever. The fact they chose to put Diesel in the game over Henry and/or Edward baffles me. Not that I hate Diesel being in the game. They are advertising and selling it as a "complete" game, but it clearly lacks the polish, content, and quality of life features that would make it truly complete. Now, finally, to Derail Valley. After being disappointed with Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor, I was feeling let down once again and felt there was no train game that I could be satisfied with. But I came across a video showcasing features of Derail Valley. I've heard of the game before, but I never fully looked into it. I wasn't expecting much, but when I seen what was possible in this game, I was immediately hooked! Notably I seen that wheelslip was a big mechanic in this game. I was always fascinated with big steam trains and how their wheels can slip out of control like crazy. That was a feature I was hoping would be in Railroads Online, but it wasn't. It's in Derail Valley however, among many other things I didn't even know I wanted. And the level of control you have over each train goes way beyond anything else I have ever seen! Everything I thought I knew was now wrong. Other train games are like Gran Turismo. If you push your car, or train, excessively hard, nothing bad happens and you just keep going. But Derail Valley is brutally realistic. On my first train in the game, I slammed the throttle into max immediately and the engine blew up on me, something I wasn't used to as it wasn't a thing that could happen in the other train games I played. It amazed me how realistic this game is and it is teaching me how to be patient. The contract system in this game is also very very refreshing, flexible, and just great. I am now in love with this game and over the last two weeks I've spent all my free time that I possibly could playing this game, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I love Derail Valley. I'm looking forward to the future of this game. Thank you.
