Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Jul 21 → 28.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Drive massive trains across beautiful, challenging landscapes. Deliver cargo between industries, spread over an open world. Earn money, buy new licenses and advance your career as a train engineer, all in seamless, emergent experience. For PC and VR.

256 km² of unrestricted open world, where you can walk or drive trains uninterrupted. Covered in rich vegetation, landscape, water bodies, and an extensive railroad network, the world spans numerous diverse industries and towns. Experience seamless day and night cycles, with dynamic clouds, fog, rain and sounds spicing it all up. Change switches, drive, haul and leave trains at desired locations - the choice is yours.

Advance your career by taking deliveries and earning money. Master efficient driving and look after vehicles to minimize fuel and repair costs. Buy new items and licenses that grant you access to more vehicles and orders. Optionally, you can also play in sandbox mode where economy is not in focus - where you can just have fun doing anything you want without consequences.

Take part in a dynamic industrial chain, where deliveries are procedurally generated for more than 80 cargo types. The output of locations varies, and almost no two deliveries are the same. Haul cargo between industries, or do the shunting and logistics that help the stations create more deliveries. Pick orders and move cargo as desired, according to your own plans, licensing and hauling capacity.

Experience in-depth intricacies of six realistic, accurate steam and diesel locomotive classes with varying transmission types, plus some extra vehicles. Through behavior, sounds, physics and interaction, their characteristics are designed to fully immerse and challenge you. On top of that, you'll find yourself spontaneously involved in coupling, servicing, brake securing, shunting and other railroad procedures.

As a side activity, you may find yourself investing time and money finding and restoring unique locomotive variant derelicts, which you can then customize with numerous useful gadgets. Gadgets are various devices that can improve driving performance, such as digital speedometers, clinometers, colored ambient lights, distance trackers, etc. You can buy them in shops and install them wherever you want, using various tools.

Built from the ground up for both PC and VR, Derail Valley lets you experience it spatially present with the supported mainstream PC VR devices - truly inside the simulator and using your own hands to operate the controls. This is the ultimate, closest experience to being a real railroader! You can seamlessly alternate your progress between the PC and VR sessions, as you prefer.

Be it a derailment, collision, blown traction motor, boiler explosion, brake failure, HAZMAT disaster or even something as mild as wheelslip on a rainy slope, Derail Valley doesn't just present you with a popup screen when you make a mistake - you get to experience the full consequences of your actions, even if they're a rare occurrence.
Whether you are new to trains or an experienced veteran, the game features tutorials that are quick to get you going. A comprehensive user manual also exists, for when you want to dive deep into the details.

Me crash train..... Me happy
I like Trains
This game is easily the best train sim available. Pulling mountains with a steam locomotive will make the kid in you smile. Taking turns a little too fast and hearing the wheels lift will make your butt pucker. Derailing off of a cliff just because you can is the freedom you deserve.
Years ago I 'd watch a few YouTube videos for DV and really thought it was a great game. Now that I have experienced the game first hand I am truly blown away. For me it combined the best of what I love about simulators. The game plays well on my old computer which is running Linux Mint 22.2 using Proton 10.0-4 without issue. I have adjusted some of the graphics mostly high settings. I can't give the game a perfect 10 out of 10 because Motion Blur is on by default. I am not a fan of it, it's not necessary for a game like this, and it causes motion sickness. If it was removed or just off by default my score would go to 11 full stop. There's a lot to do in this map. There's switching (aka shunting) consists around the various maps. Doing a few of those can build up your initial cash flow for the licensing. The game really makes you think about what you can or should take. The DE2 that you start with is a switcher car normally found in yards, but it can be used for limited hauls. The vehicle guide gives you fairly accurate expectations as to what can be expected for each train I'm not a VR gamer (causes motion sickness for me), but it is there if you want to experience it. While the game has been out for a while and is still early access the devs are adding a ton of new content. As of this writing there is a newly announced big update coming soon to DV. A lot of people play DV just for the derailments and explosions (yes it's a thing in the game). For me I'm just a causal player who just performs the routines to make money. With the sandbox you can just wing it in the world without fees. You can drive whatever train you want and take whatever loads you want. As always with my reviews I will update my thought the further I get into the game play. I do recommend the game. Keep in mind DV rarely goes on sale (I think it's once a year), but it's still worth it.
