Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Jul 21 → 28.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Drive massive trains across beautiful, challenging landscapes. Deliver cargo between industries, spread over an open world. Earn money, buy new licenses and advance your career as a train engineer, all in seamless, emergent experience. For PC and VR.

256 km² of unrestricted open world, where you can walk or drive trains uninterrupted. Covered in rich vegetation, landscape, water bodies, and an extensive railroad network, the world spans numerous diverse industries and towns. Experience seamless day and night cycles, with dynamic clouds, fog, rain and sounds spicing it all up. Change switches, drive, haul and leave trains at desired locations - the choice is yours.

Advance your career by taking deliveries and earning money. Master efficient driving and look after vehicles to minimize fuel and repair costs. Buy new items and licenses that grant you access to more vehicles and orders. Optionally, you can also play in sandbox mode where economy is not in focus - where you can just have fun doing anything you want without consequences.

Take part in a dynamic industrial chain, where deliveries are procedurally generated for more than 80 cargo types. The output of locations varies, and almost no two deliveries are the same. Haul cargo between industries, or do the shunting and logistics that help the stations create more deliveries. Pick orders and move cargo as desired, according to your own plans, licensing and hauling capacity.

Experience in-depth intricacies of six realistic, accurate steam and diesel locomotive classes with varying transmission types, plus some extra vehicles. Through behavior, sounds, physics and interaction, their characteristics are designed to fully immerse and challenge you. On top of that, you'll find yourself spontaneously involved in coupling, servicing, brake securing, shunting and other railroad procedures.

As a side activity, you may find yourself investing time and money finding and restoring unique locomotive variant derelicts, which you can then customize with numerous useful gadgets. Gadgets are various devices that can improve driving performance, such as digital speedometers, clinometers, colored ambient lights, distance trackers, etc. You can buy them in shops and install them wherever you want, using various tools.

Built from the ground up for both PC and VR, Derail Valley lets you experience it spatially present with the supported mainstream PC VR devices - truly inside the simulator and using your own hands to operate the controls. This is the ultimate, closest experience to being a real railroader! You can seamlessly alternate your progress between the PC and VR sessions, as you prefer.

Be it a derailment, collision, blown traction motor, boiler explosion, brake failure, HAZMAT disaster or even something as mild as wheelslip on a rainy slope, Derail Valley doesn't just present you with a popup screen when you make a mistake - you get to experience the full consequences of your actions, even if they're a rare occurrence.
Whether you are new to trains or an experienced veteran, the game features tutorials that are quick to get you going. A comprehensive user manual also exists, for when you want to dive deep into the details.

surprisingly fun game, UI is a little Clunky but it plays well. i just bought it and already have 9 hours.
This might be the most addictive and most entertaining train sim i've ever played So basically, if you are able to buy Derail valley, do it, even if you don't like trains as much as me (I'm a train-o-holic since i was a literal baby) you're gonna have a blast. My only critique is the amount of ram it requieres, especially now that ram is getting harder to get. To the game devs, well done, this is the best train sim i've ever played.

its okay rather have sandbox as a sandbox rather than unlocking everything something dosent add up
Solid simulator that is involved enough to keep you busy and make everything rewarding
Nagyon szépen és jól megtervezett és megalkotott játék. Elismerés a fejlesztőknek.
Buggy, and practically unplayable
Very realistic, very beautiful, very good
I don't even like trains that much...
I'm not a train fanatic by any means, but I do enjoy transport sims like Transport Fever — especially games that involve moving cargo around and managing logistics. I actually tried Derail Valley a few years ago and ended up refunding it. If I'm honest, I was impressed with it, but I got completely lost when I reached the harbour. By the time I got there it was night, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and I just never went back. A few years later, I decided to give it another go. I'm so glad I did.
The trains
I've played a few train simulators over the years, and Derail Valley is by far the best I've played. The trains are really well designed and, more importantly, they actually feel like trains. They handle how you'd expect them to, and you get a genuine feeling that you're actually driving something heavy rather than just controlling a vehicle with a train-shaped model. There's something incredibly satisfying about getting a long freight train moving, managing the throttle and brakes, dealing with gradients and getting your cargo where it needs to go. And for someone who enjoys the cargo/logistics side of games, that's where Derail Valley really hooked me.
My setup
One thing that really surprised me was how easily it detected my Bravo Throttle Quadrant. It picked it up immediately, and suddenly I had actual physical levers to control the train. That made a huge difference. There's something about physically moving a throttle and brake lever while driving a train that makes the whole experience considerably more immersive.
The world
The world itself could definitely use some more work. It's not the most visually impressive game out there, but it's perfectly good enough to make the journeys enjoyable. And honestly, when you're concentrating on a massive freight train, shunting wagons around and trying not to completely screw up your braking, the scenery becomes somewhat secondary anyway.
The development
One thing worth mentioning is that there's only a 12-person development team working on the game, so updates aren't exactly coming out at lightning speed. But here's the thing... I've now put around 60 hours into the game and I haven't had a single problem. Not one. I haven't encountered a bug. I haven't had a crash. Nothing has broken on me. You could quite easily tell me this was a finished game and I wouldn't question it. That's actually pretty impressive considering how many games these days are released and then spend years being patched into a playable state.
★★★★★ Highly Recommended
I went from refunding this game because I got lost at a harbour at night... ...to putting 60 hours into it and wondering why I ever refunded it in the first place. 😂 I'm not a train enthusiast, and I don't need to be. If you enjoy transport/logistics games and the idea of actually driving the vehicles moving your cargo around appeals to you, Derail Valley is absolutely worth a look. Recommended. 🚂
i like trains, this is trains.
