A simulator of walking through ancient Greek labyrinths with a torch. Basically, we have to collect gold, which we will use to buy weapons, skill points, and books. Among the enemies are skeletons and satyrs. The game is boring with average graphics. Not recommended.

Watched the STAR_ video years ago, and when I finally got steam, the game was unavailable, made me super sad. Glad to see it's back up, it's definitely got jank but it's exactly what I hoped for in terms of aesthetic from watching videos/listening to the OST.

one of my favorite underrated gems on steam. the game itself is flimsy and will sometimes break on you, but the lo-fi grecian horror atmosphere is one of a kind. it feels like a place i lived. genuinely creepy too

what an atmosphere. this is one of the all time great one man productions. sure, there's some bugs and jank, but they're largely part of the fun, combining with the lo-fi visuals and dark synths on the ost to really put you right in the middle of a never-produced grindhouse take on clash of the titans. with a few simple animations, animal sounds and some oppressively inky darkness, you're thrown into the middle of a genuine nightmare and it's extraordinarily impressive how terrifying it can be while sticking closely to the theme and the old-school, goofy aesthetics. there's plenty of raw gameplay on top of that, with a hefty campaign that sees you taking on eight or so unique monsters in randomly-generated levels, plus an endless mode for when you finish that. though i never really used the special abilities available to purchase with "knowledge" in each level, there's still a nice sense of progression through gathering gold and getting better and better weapons-- plus other little mechanics like potions, or lighting torches placed in the environment by using your own, make things feel more interactive and give it that classic dungeon crawler vibe. as far as genuine complaints, i think a fair few mechanics are superfluous (the combat's floaty and unsatisfying, but at least the killable monsters go down fast), and the biggest problem seems to be the random generation. it's awesome that it produces such variation, and can serve you up a completely different level when you die and restart, but its seeming lack of control means you're often going to be served up the game's most obnoxious elements all right next to each other. towards the end i was getting tired of running from the man-eating ants straight into a turret that i narrowly dodged by leaping headlong into a lava pit. even then, though i can't really be mad-- there's so much variation that it's always going to be fun to try again. it's a shame the game's only available through resale keys these days because it deserves better. it's a bona fide classic in my opinion and i'm looking forward to trying this dev's newer stuff.

Hidden gem, this game is very cool.

To this date, this is a game my wife and I revisit regularly around Halloween. While it's rough around the edges, it truly is a unique horror roguelite experience that I haven't seen matched by similar takes in the genre. It's simple but an effective premise - you are navigating a pitch black proc-gen labyrinth while under pursuit by various Greek Mythology monstrosities. Very much in line with cat-and-mouse horror titles like Alien Isolation or Outlast, but with all the satisfaction in slowly progressing your abilities through the permanent weapon unlocks. Finding the balance between scavenging for supplies and gold in a level while trying not to get caught is what makes up the majority of the experience, and it's great. The intense synth-wave soundtrack is also highly underrated, which you get for free with the game. I don't know why this gets passed up so often, but you should absolutely give this a try if you love Greek Mythology, Roguelikes, and Horror games and slightly janky combat isn't a deal breaker for you.
