There once was a game about rule, That thought spreadsheets made it look cool. I clicked and I schemed, But nothing was grand My choices just sat there as if sand.

great game, must have autism to enjoy
The options and solutions are not nearly as granular as they should be. You have every social issue but no options to fund specific agencies. Its hard to raise taxes without Tax evasion. Cutting military spending by 99% has no impact on anything??? I love an excel spread sheet game but D4 is underdeveloped.
Should be awesome, but heavily punishes you for implementing policies the devs don't want you to. I was expecting this to be a neutral sandbox, but don't think it is, and I found it frustrating to play despite being simpler to play than it looks at first glance (definitely use the tutorial, it's pretty good). You could argue this reflects the reality of the far left who, in real life, punish any attempts to handle illegal migration, fund the military or have a nuclear deterrent, and implementing these things brings no real benefit other than to please patriots. The devs really don't seem to like patriots. There is no acknowledgement of the downsides to policies that please minorities/foreign relations but infuriate the indigenous population, and no wars or terror attacks so funding your military and security costs money while alienating you. Why offer so much choice when many of them are nothing but expensive and liable to get you kicked out of office?
An upgrade from Democracy 3, this is such an awesome game, really dives deep into a ton of polarizing elements with the ability to view the pros and cons from each side. I like having a 3rd party in the mix during Dem4 and the QoL added within the main UI. Great game, check it out, it's neat to see how people play the game when they realize the pros and cons for each choice.
Intuitive, addictive, and only slightly politically biased!
Great game that you can play so many times but never play the same game twice. While it lacks quite a bit of depth, it's still a great political game you can spend many hours playing.
Game is fun to kill a few hours but if you are looking for a real political sim this isnt it in a lot of ways. I brought down my county's debt to 0, completely eliminated the lower class and had 40% of the population as wealthy and growing, rest being middleclass. Almost everything was maxed out education, GDP, 0 crime and health. environment around 80%. What confused me was why my unemployment was at 25% and poverty hard locked around 50 when poor people literally did not exist. Best i can tell poverty is just a pointless stat that makes you use socialist policies for no good reason. Taxes had been reduced to a point that they only covered my expenses without going back into federal debt and currency strength was maxed. Everything in the game was saying everything was prosperous and I had almost no welfare policies everything was privatized with no issues i could find. The game basically says you MUST have socialist policies or you don't get to say your country is truly prosperous. If you are going for a libertarian, ancap, or really any right winged playthrough where you dont focus on your economy the game just says no. I ended the playthrough with a fully balanced economy I passed about 30 turns with no crisis except cyclones because the game has a hardset point that you just have climate change even though my CO2 emission was at 0 and there is nothing you can do about it. In conclusion its a fun but very flawed political sim 6.5/10 buy it on sale
