DEEP ROCK GALACTIC: ROGUE CORE is a 1-4 player co-op shooter with sci-fi dwarves, procedurally-generated caves and random roguelike upgrades. Explore maze-like mines and blast through hordes of alien abominations — no two runs are the same. Move quickly, work together and shoot first to survive.

I understand the negative/mixed reviews. The game isn't where it is supposed to be yet and the devs are listening and working on it to fix it. Tho the game has a quite a long way to go, from what i can see right now i really enjoy it. The characters are unique, you can mix and match their abilities later on. The only thing i dislike are the perks but they are changing that so who knows what that will become after a few tweaks and new additions. From what i can say, this game is good with lots of potential. Lets hope the devs can get that potential out!
Not comparable to DRG. Do not mean that in bad sense. Roguelike mechanics make each game unique, I used few weapons DRG offers but I never used, it's nice to arrange upgrades that have synergy since that gets you more than just brute forcing power. It feels like a totally different game with DRG's lore on it. Missions feel hard at the beginning but learning how to play through many games makes you want to play the game even more
-Upgrades are just minor buffs, and don't change the way you play. There are no "builds", just different guns, grenades, and equipment. This means every run feels the same outside of the class you play. -Core spawn are not fun to fight. The way they act make most grenades and precision play useless compared to spray and pray. -Armor system is tedious and unrewarding. A lot of enemy attacks melt it off of you in 1-2 hits. -Enemies bobble, jerk around, leap, and generally make precision weapons useless / frustrating to use. I am a mouse aimer, and love my m1000 scout in DRG, but forget it in Rogue Core. Might as well take a shotgun or one of the dozens of same-y ARs. -Bosses are not fun, all have the same throw-the-rock-in-the-hole mechanic, and are bullet sponges otherwise. They have damage that's annoying to avoid while dealing with the regular enemies constantly spawning. The boss fights are a game of regularly drinking from the ammo supplies and hoping you have health-back buffs because you'll be health and ammo starved the whole time. Also good luck reviving your buddies when it's the flying shark boss. Picture any glyphid dreadnaught / pyramid boss fight in DRG - nothing in Rogue Core is that fun or creative or rewarding. -There is no short form run. It's a time commitment, and if you have 35-40mins to kill on a random night to play games - this won't be the one you reach for, because you don't have time to play a run. You and your buddies die on level 3? No time to roll another game. GG no re. -Multiple stations to have to make sure you check in on isn't fun, neither is the timer. Now we have sliders for the timer, the difficulty.. in other words the devs have no idea what's fun or how to balance the mechanics they introduced. Early access I know.. but this is so underbaked and poorly designed that they'd have to throw out the enemies and bosses and start over, not to mention my previous point about the upgrades being nothing-burgers, and there being no such thing as a unique run - just class abilities and slightly different guns. Basically in my view nothing works or has depth. How to improve on enemies, bosses, and systems that don't work and aren't fun? Good luck. -Oh and the beers/bar.. you know how in deep rock it's cool to have buff beers, collect flowers, spend time at Lloyd's with your buddies between missions? Forget it in this game. No buffs, and you have to do annoying mini games to afford a beer. My friend group dances, drinks, and shoots the sh*t at Lloyd's in DRG, but simply doesn't engage with the bar at all in Rogue Core. Basically once the new-and-shiny effect wares off you realize there's nothing here worth the time. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm thinking the issues with this game can't be fixed with patches and balance, and it's never going to see full release given how poorly it's been received / how bad player retention has been. I hope I'm wrong.. I have thousands of hours in DRG. Sorry for the negativity but yeah.. at least at the time of this review you'll be in for 20-30 hrs of "hmm this is interesting" before that interest falls off a cliff and you realize being stressed out about missing upgrade stations, the timer, the fact that your gun sucks, or how bad the enemies and bosses really are to fight - isn't worth it. Go play Deep Rock Galactic, that's what the rest of us are doing.
"OK" game, but falls short compared to the original. In my opinion, it's missing that 'fun' factor that the original had.
GET RID OF THE INVINCIBLE REAPER WORM (AND THE BOSSES SHOULDN'T BE INVINCIBLE EITHER)! It isn't fun to be instantly killed because you wanted to explore the map and collect all the things! More enemies spawn? Sure, give me the challenge! The enemies deal more damage? That's fair, I'll take the risk! Invincible instant death worm that punishes you for exploring? NO! That sucks so bad!
A Great Spin-Off with Tons of Replay Value
I don’t really understand the negative reviews saying the game is too difficult. Rogue Core is not just more Deep Rock Galactic. It has a different focus and is meant to be more challenging. After playing it for a while, the original almost feels like the vanilla version. The enemies are far more dangerous and genuinely creepy. Every run feels different thanks to the many combinations of perks, characters, weapons and equipment. I also like the stronger focus on survival. You have to decide whether you still have time to collect resources or start a minigame without risking the whole mission. These minigames give you useful upgrades for your current build instead of meaningless grind points, so they actually feel worth doing. There are still crashes, server problems and other stability issues, but the game isn’t finished yet and already has huge potential. I personally enjoy it even more than the original. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a tougher Deep Rock experience with roguelike elements.
Rock and Stone!
Joined a mission late and had no weapons. What.
I want to like this game. It's just not that fun. I'll come back in a year or so and see what's happened, if it's still around.
Updated after more playtime, it simply is a let down compared to DRG... I would like to explore but the constant ticking timer makes it so exploring is stressful rather than fun and the upgrades aren't rewarding enough. This is as a solo player btw, the music isn't as good as DRG, the enemies are way more annoying for solo since they constantly try to get behind you, cooper is Bosco but worse. The game on "standard" is way too hard at least for solo and you need to bring back recharging shields. Also Rogue Core basically made DRG in a state where it will get one update a year and thats it, that just isnt good honestly Found another issue, the elevator sequence when you have to defend it is way, way too hard for a solo person to do. It just gets destroyed over and over again and it takes so long to fix it so you just die while trying cause enemies are just constantly spawning
