In the peaceful vastness of the ocean, Darwin, a young octopus, explores the deep sea… until a strange beam of light pierces the abyss and pulls him toward the surface. Thrust out of his aquatic world, he wakes up disoriented in the middle of a gigantic junkyard, backed by a foreboding factory.
But something is wrong. Between the threatening machines, strange holding tanks, and the mysterious and dangerous creatures and characters that inhabit the place, Darwin realizes he is in danger. Es tut mir wirklich leid, aber die ganzen positiven Bewertungen kann ich überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen. Bisher habe ich noch nie eine negative Bewertung abgegeben, aber hier kann ich einfach nicht anders. Das Spiel macht überhaupt keinen Spaß und ist einfach nur langweilig. Die Puzzle und Rätsel sind einfallslos und viel zu geradlinig. Auch die Performance auf dem Steam Deck und der Steam Machine ist fürchterlich. Nachdem das Spiel auf dem Steam Deck zweimal hintereinander an derselben Stelle abgestürzt ist, musste ich schließlich abbrechen. Schade um das Geld.
Darwin's Paradox! est une super surprise pour les amateurs de plateforme et d'infiltration, surtout avec sa direction artistique canon et son petit poulpe ultra attachant qui essaie de fuir une usine de conserve. Le jeu propose des mécaniques bien pensées autour des capacités du céphalopode, mais attention : la difficulté pique vraiment (die & retry) et certains soucis de caméra peuvent vite agacer. C'est une aventure originale et pleine de charme, mais à réserver aux joueurs patients qui aiment le challenge et ont les nerfs solides.

It's by no means a terrible game but I've just played so many better versions of this in my time it really couldn't hold my interest, especially not when several situations became frustrating due to wonky controls or poor level design.
Darwin's Paradox is a really enjoyable cinematic 2D puzzle adventure game. It's short, I finished it in less than 4 hours, but it's paced well and doesn't feel like it overstays its welcome. The game looks great and the story is told really well considering there's not a single line of dialogue, it's all visual. The story ends rather abruptly, but I had fun all the way to the end. I'm glad there are still new games like this out there. If this looks interesting, pick it up. It will not disappoint.
Absolutely blown away by the blend of simplicity and complexity in this game. It has that gorgeous isometric 2D platforming style that I fell in love with while playing Metroid Dread, and the effect is that much more beautiful here with environments changing constantly and enemies and objects in the foreground and background coming into play with your 2d playing field frequently (mostly during stealth missions). The abilities of Darwin are simple enough, but the use of them always feels so satisfying and makes you feel so smart. The game does an excellent job in telegraphing why you died, what you need to do to succeed, and where you need to go even if the answer requires some fairly complex movement. As somewhat of a veteran gamer, I was very pleasantly surprised by the games willingness to ramp up the difficulty and trust their own design to help the player pull off some pretty challenging and fast paced maneuvers. This game is a ton of fun and I can't wait to get back into it and play some more! It's a perfect game for some summer fun!

Darwin's Paradox — это самобытный научно-фантастический платформер с оригинальным главным героем и черным юмором, где вы управляете разумным осьминогом в захваченном пришельцами мире. Использование щупалец для перемещения по трехмерному пространству в первые часы игры ощущается очень свежо и интересно, однако ближе к финалу эта механика начинает утомлять из-за тугого управления. Движения персонажа временами становятся слишком роботизированными и зажатыми, а поскольку финальные уровни требуют ювелирной точности, неотзывчивость осьминога начинает откровенно раздражать. С другой стороны, сюжетная линия и атмосфера остаются сильнейшей стороной проекта благодаря отличной сатире и черному юмору на тему постапокалипсиса. Инопланетяне представлены циничными существами, которые всячески издеваются, подшучивают и глумятся над человечеством, так что наблюдать за оккупацией Земли через призму такого юмора действительно весело. В итоге игра определенно заслуживает внимания ради классного сеттинга и хороших шуток, но вам придется запастись терпением, чтобы преодолеть топорное управление в финальной трети прохождения.
It breaks my heart this game didn't get more recognition. It was well crafted and had great design and ideas.
Fun game! Would play again so I can find all the extras. I think this is definitely playable for those who aren't hardcore gamers (like myself) but still like a bit of a challenge and adventure.
