[b]Despite the game's recommendation, I wholeheartedly don't recommend playing on a controller. Aiming is nicer with mouse, and you can't rebind controller mapping, unlike with keyboard and mouse.[/b] With that out of the way, I still recommend this short (4h~) linear game and consider it quite an underrated gem. [h2]The Good[/h2] [olist] [*] The artstyle is unique and beautiful complimented with detailed environment and good effects [*] Unique setting and worldbuilding [*] Great soundtrack and the sound effects are satisfying. Especially the "dap dap" sounds. [*] The game can be quite intense and scary. They nailed the atmosphere and the horror sequences. Some of the horror sequences was quite creative. [*] fierce combat with challanging enemy variety. [*] Good length, Doesn't overstay its welcome. [/olist] [h2]The Mid[/h2] [olist] [*] Writing is alright. The story is clear and at the same time vague. You know what you are and what your ultimate goal is but, what you're doing is pretty vague and the characters you meet appear without sufficient explanation. [*] There's an imbalance in overall quality. The first half can be boring and a slog but the second half feels more streamlined and interesting with more gimmicks and going ons. [/olist] [h2]The Bad[/h2] [olist] [*] Settings and technicals are very limited. You can't change controller keybinds, only presets. Tutorials won't show the correct remapped keybind icon. Only one audio setting (master). [*] Unless it's combat, gameplay loop can be boring. Go to the next room, cut some resources, built campfire, recruit some daps, light lamps, open doors, rinse and repeat. [*] Some levels are too big so walking and exploring the level can be a slog, which is at odds with the game’s intent to encourage exploration and the discovery of hidden secrets (Which you need to get the good ending). [*] Not a lot of replayability, thus no other reason to play the game again unless you really want to get the good ending if you fail to get it on first playthrough.
