I actually mostly quite enjoyed the game. Very cute, fun, great atmosphere, occasionally a little frustrating, but mostly quite good. However, there are only two endings to the game. The "good" ending is tied to finding all of a secret item. If you miss a single one of them at any point during the game you have effectively failed the whole run. One save, auto saves, no going back, no ability to replay levels (and there are differing amounts of the item on different levels). No indication at any point until the end that you have missed one of these items. And then you have to restart the entire game. While it's not a LONG game, it's not exactly an hour or two either. And as you cannot skip cutscenes even on a second play through, it just feels...unnecessarily tedious. Were this tediousness removed or mitigated I would gladly recommend it. As it is I can't bring myself to put up with it, so I will just go watch someone else get the good ending.
Demented pikmin. Stellar aesthetics and atmosphere, some cool areas to explore, really wanted to love it... but just too little gameplay variety and depth. Imagine if you played pikmin and you knocked down bridges and took flower bulbs back to the onion until you find the ship part. Bridges and flowers aren't combined in super interesting ways you kinda just keep doing that and going to really cool looking new areas. That's sort of what this is like.

Definitely a hidden (very hidden) gem in the Steam library. This game is the perfect "midnight game". It's athmosphere is strong. Its story is dark but filled with hope. The combat is dynamic and makes it feel like a survival horror game. Deserves more that it'll ever get.
Runs great on Steamdeck. Yet another one of those games thats hard to find words for. The art, sound, music, gameplay... whole package is great. Parts i found myself getting frustrated at felt nice to complete. Its not a very difficult game but it does have moments where it gets hard. If you like cute things but also dark stuff this one is for you. A longer experience would be great however the length is perfect for the game as it is.
This has to be one of my top 3 indie games that I played this year. I love the music, the art style and the atmosphere. I've never played a game like this before. I fully recommend this game, it's a hidden gem!

I'm on chapter two and it is amazing! its super hard at some parts so if you're not into puzzles or strategy games i wouldn't recommend dap. I love the art style and the plot so far, it's such an underrated game!!!
Overall I would say this game is a bit of a hidden gem, and I'm always excited to recommend games by Aussie developers. The sound design and general atmosphere of the world is very engrossing and the gameplay does a good good of emulating some of the technical aspects of more popular 2D action games without being too frustrating. However, I was disappointed in the ending, because it hinges on collecting all of a certain non-essential item. The level design is oppressively dark, which complements the atmosphere and story, but doesn't incentivise exploration. This is definitely not a typical metroidvania style adventure game. At least on a first playthrough, the player is mostly focused on simply surviving and therefore will probably miss some of these critical items and achieve what I thought was a non-ending. This is more of a personal gripe and in general the game is well made and worth a try for those looking for atmospheric horror-action games
