Cubes and Knights is a very enjoyable and challenging rogue-like dungeon crawler. With a mysterious and creepy atmosphere, great looking pixel art, well designed and impactful combat, and secrets galore this game was exciting the whole way through, as I learned its ins and outs and delved deep into the lair of the necromancer. Go in blind! Don't look up guides, figure out the secrets of the dungeon yourself. And lastly, beware, brave knight, lest ye die and be reanimated to walk the halls forever by the necromancer, like so many have before you.
The game has a really satisfying combat system with hefty weapons, the atmosphere and graphics are also really good. There was way more to the game than I initially thought, there are hidden passage ways and levels to get better gear, it really felt like I was discovering something I wasn't supposed to.
murder evil knights in the mysterious dungeons of necromancer with steele !!!!
Cool game, but pretty barebones. Combat system is satisfying (really good first person melee combat, something that a lot of AAA games get wrong) and there are some cool secrets. Hopefully the dev iterates on the game and adds a more complex inventory system and more enemy/AI variety. Fair price imo.
Very fun and satisfying sword and magic play, fairly big learning curve which I enjoyed figuring out. I have a few gripes, like the small space there is which to fight and over all the duration of the game because I do believe a lot of things could have been expanded on. 7.5/10 very high potential.
It's tough for me to recommend this game but I am going to give it a thumbs up for now. I think the game is far too difficult. I don't think its balanced right. i was hoping to boot the game up and destroy the environmental walls. NOT the case. I think a wand should be an earlier pick up (ive yet to see it). I believe in this project but considering the game is fully released, I don't know if they are still updating it or not. I think the game really needs progression or something.
maybe not a full time game, but something to pick up every once in a while when you're in the mood. The combat is satisfying and challenging. Game gets very hard. It's so cool to be fighting and have your sword swing take out part of a wall on it's way to slashing someone. This dev rocks though due to only making his games to software render. Something about that intrigues the hell out of me. In case you missed it in the game description: "I wrote the engine code in C++, this is a software renderer. This means that the whole picture is being built by the CPU forces."
