CRUEL

I loved this game, came at just the right time for me. Cruel is really straight-forward and simple, but it's a blast to play. It's one of those games you could probably have installed all the time to just return to whenever you had an itch. Getting started or resuming play is really quick, and it has a nice gameplay loop where things just flow perfectly. Most of it comes down to running down halls and shooting everything that moves, with a satisfying blend of some melee options. The weapons are limited so there isn't too much to learn; and it just takes practice to get good at headshots, knowing when to melee, when to throw, and how to move. When I first started it, I loved the style and graphics; and I loved the OST a ton. Even the kind of edgy writing is amusing to me, because it's not like the concept is really high class. Kind of reminds me of Postal. When you've finished the "main" roguelike part of the game, there's quite a lot of replayability because the gameplay is so good. Even more, you can try endless mode, no healing, or melee only. I would have liked to have a customization option so I could do like endless with progressive perks, or perfection with perks. Overall, I just wish there was MORE altogether. More enemies, more perks, more options. I definitely felt like I got what I paid for, but I wish it was a larger game rather than only an arcade-style. Still, I think it gets work on it occasionally, and it would take a long time to get all the achievements, so this one is definitely worth it.
