Not bad for a free-to-play game, but it requires an excessive amount of grinding, which makes it exhausting and ultimately boring. This is especially true during the first few runs, where your damage and attack speed make absolutely no sense compared to the overwhelming number of enemies and the damage they deal to you. The game doesn't understand pacing at all; it just forces you to grind and repeat until you get upgrades, causing it to become repetitive and dull very quickly. Since there are much better options in this genre (even free-to-play ones), this just ends up feeling like a failed experiment.
Clunky, annoying menus, slow.
Let me tell you. The game recommends a 16:9 aspect ratio. I say you NEED to have this aspect ratio. I started the game, played for an hour, couldn't see any upgrade options. So I basically did a Loop far too early. On the second run through, I noticed the "Weapon" tab was clickable, but was extremely squashed, so I had seen the optional message about aspect ratio, googled 16:9 ratios, set graphics to the closest setting, BAM - Spirit, Weapons and Stat options. Delete first save, restart. Much better. So let me do the negatives first, these are minor. No character animation, You're just moving the static image around the map. The weapon effects are active, but no models move. - This is such a minor problem I didn't really care, it was negligible. (Mobs do have animation) Pros: Great game, repetitive but not tiresome soundtrack, upgrade and shop system is basic but very solid. Just need to add a "replay" button to death screen after shards are calculated, it's a little arduous every time you want to run again. But love the beginning of what this could become.
for a free game it's quite fun The only real criticism I have for it is it feels too much like a grind I guess of course it has some grindiness to it in most games like this but you just get so over I'm given very little choices when playing I think there was a difficulty decrease instead of such uphill difficulty spike The game would feel less grindy and more fun But outside of that graphics aren't too bad soundtrack ain't too bad Yeah it's pixels and old school music but the aesthetic is nice Story is there Overall I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10 needs more work But for what it not bad
This game is very frustrating in the beginning. You will get in and make pennies and die a dozen of times just on hero Lv3-4. But as you continue to make souls (basically money for upgrades), you will be so op, that you can't even get out from the run (lemme explain). So I reached like level 63, the mobs disappeared for some reason, maybe a bug, who knows. So I can't die and I can't figure out how to get out and get my progress/ money made from the run. I gave up and pressed "Restart", it restarted the run.. I didn't want to press "quit" cause.. yeah.. self explanatory (also self explanatory the word "Restart" lmao, I know). So... yeah, amazing, I can't buy the 100M coins upgrades. The game doesn't offer many builds. You will use those 6 in early game: main weapon, health regen, increased might, spinning orbs, lightning and projectile speed. Then later on you will use the same as above, except you will play knives and fireballs instead of spinning orbs and lightnings. It should take you around 6-7 hours to complete the game. Try it and lose 7 hours of your life, get the achievements, in and out.
I'm excited for the future of this game, it def has potential. I know there are issues, but, it's a free game and looks like a single dev, so this guy might be throwing the few mins of spare time he gets outside of school/work into this, IDK. I looked at some of the previous reviews and while some ppl complain about the lack of dev response, I see that they have corrected a lot of the initial/smaller QoL issues, so I'll consider it a "win". But also, I'm stuck and I'm not sure if it's me or a bug. If I'm supposed to give Shadow the 2M for the next tier (like I thought I read), then I have no idea how to give it to him.
balance is so bad
