Review: Do Not Buy — Broken UI and a Hostile Developer I have played most of the prominent cricket sims (Cricket Captain, Cricket Coach, etc.), but this Early Access release is one of the most frustrating experiences I have had—not just because of the bugs, but because of the developer's complete lack of professionalism. The State of the Game The game is currently severely compromised by UI bugs and unresponsiveness: 1) Game-Breaking UI: The most glaring example is that the in-game exit button literally does not work. To quit the game, you are forced to press Alt+Tab and kill the process from your taskbar. 2) Resolution Issues: The tactics board does not scale properly to the screen. Bowler names disappear, and the field setup/bowling instructions get cut off, leaving essential mechanics hidden. 3) Broken Scoreboard & Editor: Clicking on a player’s name does absolutely nothing (it should load their stats), and the in-game editor's "save changes" button is completely unresponsive in new saves. 4) Rushed Patches: The developer boasts about releasing "34 patches in 3 weeks." As a player, this just means you have to constantly update the game because there is clearly zero rigorous QA testing being done before patches go live. A decade-old game like Cricket Coach 2014 feels vastly more intuitive and functional than this current build. The Developer (Buyer Beware) Bugs can be patched, but the real reason to avoid this game is the developer's hostile behavior towards paying customers. When I posted a detailed breakdown of these exact bugs on the game’s official subreddit, the developer: Deleted my post to maintain an artificially positive echo chamber. Banned me, claiming that using words like "rubbish" to describe a broken UI is "hate speech." Attacked my character in private messages because I didn't act as their unpaid private QA tester before leaving a public review. Blocked me the moment I pointed out that I am a paying customer and not an employee. They are aggressively silencing critics, accusing users of using alt accounts, and throwing tantrums when confronted with bugs. Even other community members are now calling out this toxic behavior. If a developer cannot handle public criticism without resorting to censorship and blocking customers, they are not ready to sell a commercial product. Save your money and stick to games where the developers actually respect their community.

I just finished my first match in this game. There's a lot of promise here and I see 4 updates already within the first 10 hours of release so devs also hard at it. I see a lot of potential in this game because it does allow for a lot more granular control compared to the reigning cricket management simulators. The UI could do with updating, as well as features to make the whole field setting and plan of action deciding process a little easier. Bowlers ideally should be adding variations basis their own mental stats because setting a plan for each of the 120 balls in a T20 feels a bit much. Let's see how this develops and grows. I'm optimistic.
Lots of work still to be done, but I most say its better than cricket captain, definitely need the data base for real player names, can't wait for the UI to improve in the future, It has a lot of potential.
Got to give a negative review sadly. Some of the text is far too small for my aging eyesight. The lay out and gameplay i had to give up on due to this. Its a text based game so readable text has to be the most important feature in it. Especially for people like me who will be staring at the screen for hours playing the game and with this one straining my eyes to read some of the really tiny greyed out text.. IMHO there is tons of room on each tab or page for larger text sizes. There is no logical reason for some of it to be so small and diminutive. I tried the light background to see if it might be better for me but alas it got worse with some of the greyed out text virtually invisible to me in the white background. Hopefully if there is a CM27 the text size issue is improved. Good luck to the devs anyway. Cricket does need another management sim badly
There's early release and then there is a game which essentially is rubbish. It promises much and delivers little. It is a good idea but needs ALOT of work. Unable to trade or loan players. There are other simulators who do this a lot better. What utter dross. Sorry I bought it. Uninstalled in record time
I have tried so hard to like this game. i have looked past some gamebreaking bugs in attempts to be able to get some playtime out of this but its gotten to the point where i just cant anymore. every single time i open this game theres a new bug. the current one is where you cannot click on anything in the application and it just accesses whatever window or desktop display is behind the application as if it doesnt exist. quite literally every time i open this game it is near unable to be played atleast for me and after posting about this specific bug roughly a week ago nothing has been done for it despite a few patches. avoid this game for another 6 months or so and maybe it becomes a playable game. Edit: before anyone askes yes i know its early access and bugs are part and parcel but when its a bug every other day that just blatently stops the game from being played at all and from the looks with the current bug i have posted about not being looked at for a decent amount of time early access doesnt cover a poor game.
Seems promising however no really players or competitions. Critical bug occurring during games that stops progression. Needs work.
I was extremely excited about this game and have been active in reporting bugs and giving feedback on the forums. Unfortunately, even in early access, I cannot recommend this game. It’s become evident the game is a Claude AI build and the reason for constant updates/patches is that an idea or bug is simply stuck in the AI model and the updated. The game has tons of “features” but few of them work, and it’s unclear if any have an actual impact on gameplay. For as outdated and feature-limited cricket captain is, it at least has cricket logic. And when you make the (precious few) decisions, they appear to have an impact on the game. This game has almost no cricket logic. And rushed “features” seem to be window dressing for very little underlying cricket code. At this stage, it is basically a space bar simulator, where you click away game to game and ball to ball until you run into a game-breaking bug. There is no immersion or real-world feel. And in game there is little to no discernible strategy or impact on the match. What you want is there: field placements, aggression, different pitches. But after starting many, many different careers, these feel completely meaningless, with zero adjusted cricketing logic for test cricket, ODI or T20. Maybe in the future it will get there. But given how the developer has responded to critical feedback, I highly, highly doubt it. I was a big supporter of this project to begin with. But now it feels like a vibe-coded nothing being run by a teenager. To be charged money for it in its current state is shocking.
Giving a tentative positive at the moment, mainly for the potential and the dev being active in trying to improve things. Game looks real nice but bugs are present at the moment, but if things do get fixed is definitely capable of being better than other cricket management games currently available. No real names, but does include an editor, but not tried this feature out as yet. Current 3 star, but with 5 star potential.
It looks promising .. kind of gives you feel of football manager game. Developer is very much intrested in getting feedback and patch issues on priority Game engine looks good. Hwever there needs to some modification to bowling setup .. it has to be made easy rather than picking up line and length for each bowl .. bpwler should use his rating and skills to pitch Fielding UI is not correctly getting alligned Needs more nations especially ICC trophy for associated and lower rank nations It needs work and i am sure developer will fix the issues
