Fought skeletons, chased deer, paid taxes, stole my neighbor's chicken eggs, and fell off a cliff so I could give Henry the best bed he'd ever not sleep on 10/10 game and don't let the early access fool you, this is a ton of fun even from the very start and I'm not joking when I say I'm stoked to see what more comes in the future
Usually when games are not for me, I don't leave a bad review. But this game made so many choices that make the core processes of the game so infuriating that I'd actively recommend people don't play this. It's a game where you run a cozy shop. Gathering and crafting things to sell is a core game mechanic, and should feel smooth and most importantly, fun. Instead, it feels clunky for several reasons. 1. Limited inventory. Not only is there a limit on the amount of items you can carry with you, but also on the total weight of the items. It's fine, I'll just walk back to my shop and put 'em in a chest, except... 2. Limited chest space. You can't decide where to put your chests, or how many. You can only place them in pre-existing cabinets, most of which need fixing at the start of the game. You can't fix them until you get iron, for which you need to get access to the mine, which costs money. So at the start of the game, you're stuck with 1 working cabinet which has space for 3 chests. But it's okay, if I need to craft, at least I won't have to walk back and forth between the chest all the ti- 3. No crafting from storage. If you're going to punish me for having stuff in my inventory, at least make it possible to craft from the storage chests. But no, now I have to walk back and forth to get the materials I need. As far as I can tell, there's no way to get this via upgrades either. Again, in a game where the core game loop is gather > craft > sell, you'd think those parts would be made as smooth as possible. I'm not saying you can't have restrictions, but this simply isn't fun, it's annoying. Not even the selling portion is smooth - when I want to place something on a shop shelf, I have to go into my inventory, select the product, press a button, then go back into the game and place it on the table. Let me put it in my hotbar and place it down via there! I don't want to have to switch back and forth between my inventory everytime I want to stock a different product. Also - this is a nitpick, admittedly - the tutorial mentioned that customers will expect certain products once you start selling them. But the thing is, the game is based on finding random stuff and crafting. It's not a "steady stream of product" type of game. So your customers will inevitably ask for stuff you only had a limited amount of. It's not a huge deal, but again, this seems like such an odd choice for this type of game? Why not just have customers buy whatever you have available? Farming is also a bore, because soil is hard to find, so at first you can only have one planter. Which means I can only grow one crop, when I've already found like 10 different seeds. Also, when you want to water it, you have to grab a bucket, fill it at the well, then water the plant, and after that the bucket disappears from your hotbar. Which was quite annoying when I had a second plant I wanted to water. It's all just... horribly clunky. On their own, these things aren't that bad, but together, it made for such a frustrating experience. Which is a shame, because this game does do a few things right! The free placement for most items is cool, I liked the artstyle, and I liked walking around and exploring the area. I also like the idea of actually crafting items instead of just tossing them into a machine and waiting for that to do the work. Before I ran into the inventory issues, I was having a blast. And that made it all the more frustrating, because it got so close to being good. My overall feedback to the devs is that not everything needs to be hard. Right now, I feel limited in almost every aspect that is supposed to make the game fun and cozy. I won't refund it and wait for it to cook a bit longer, because I know the devs are working on improvements, but for now, I don't recommend the game.

I have been having so much fun with Cozy Keep! There is so much to do. Not only do you get to run and decorate your shop, you get to also craft, farm, ranch, fish, and explore a mine filled with enemies and resources. First, don't let the combat scare you away. It's not difficult, at all. And, it's not punishing if you die. The goblin king has kicked my butt many times and when I fall, I am transported back to the shop. My backpack full of items appears OUTSIDE of the mine. So, yeah. I have to run back to the mine to pick up my stuff, but it's just to the entrance. I don't have to make my way back to the exact spot where I fell, and I don't lose anything by dying. (To be honest... if I'm feeling lazy, I use the death mechanic as a teleport out.) You do have a debt to pay, but you are given a generous amount of time at each step to pay it off. In fact, I realized that I needed to slow down. I was so anxious to pay it off that I was doing so without using the full allotment of time given between due dates... and that actually hurt me. Each time you pay, the amount goes up. So, use the time you are given! Take a deep breath, spend some time gathering resources, and setting up your shop. Pick a day to farm and do that. Pick another day to craft and do that. Don't feel like you have to do everything all at once. Speaking of the shop, your customers will wander up and ask for specific things. But, as far as I can tell, turning them away doesn't truly hurt your shop rating. Unless it is something simple and easy ("I want an apple. Please restock the fish"), then I tell them I don't have it. It's too stressful to try and run downstairs and craft whatever they want, on the spot. But, as I said, it doesn't hurt you to do so! I'm sitting at almost 4 stars, now, and I turn people away all the time. I have been having a blast growing food and cooking. My shop is pretty much specialized in selling cooked food. Though, I do have a corner for things I loot in the mine. But, you can specialize however you like! Want to be an armory? Craft a bunch of gear and sell it. You can make rings, bracelets, and necklaces and be a jeweler. You can fill the shop with fish, fish oil, and bait to be a fishing shop. Do whatever you like! Cozy Keep was well worth the purchase, for me!
I really enjoy how simple the combat, crafting, farming and gathering is yet there is so much variety. For a single person developed, early access game this is super impressive and I’m excited for the full version. Got it cause I wanted a fantasy style supermarket simulator and got SO MUCH MORE. My feedback (or more accurately the things I’m excited to see) would be more raw materials, more enemy types, more things to craft and more animals. Just more of everything haha. I hope that one thing we can do that isn’t in this is to expand the actual store. There are many ways to configure it and lots of space for stuff to go but I did quickly find it felt very confined. With the stealing, bartering and customer assistance mechanics this would get difficult fast and I imagine it’s difficult to make so if it isn’t installed I totally get it. But it could be manageable from a player perspective if hireable staff was a thing kind of like the nighttime security, though again I can imagine this is hard to make. Also the survival aspect of it is awesome, it’s simple and easy to manage so it doesn’t feel intrusive yet it kept me on my toes enough to pay attention. Again, great game, really excited to see the full version.
I am surprised at just the right balance this game manages to strike between survival craft, farming, adventure, and shop keeping sim while still remaining cozy and not overly complex. The map isn't huge, but it's packed with reasons to goand explore around every inch of it. I adore it. I can't wait to see what the developers add next, but there's plenty of things to keep me busy til then! Occasional tiny bugs here and there - like painting the roof window triangle walls is weird both inside and out, but it's nothing game breaking. Runs smoothly too, though the full blast motion blur on start up made my head spin.
It's a beautiful and good game, it's fun and light in terms of graphics, no need to have an ULTRA powerful GPU. It's just a shame that it's only in English. I recommend this game.
A nice place to exist in. Biggest unexpected positive surprise for 2025 for me. Highly recommend as a "stress down" game.
Cozy Keep is a pretty decent, albeit a little basic, shop sim game that does a good job of avoiding some of the common issues and mistakes I commonly see in this genre. Let's get the bad out of the way. There are some odd stutters and frame drops while building and demolishing things, not a deal breaker but I always held my breathe wondering if the game is about to crash. Luckily it never did though. Hopefully early access will flesh this out, but I wish the game had a little more meat on the bones. While I do like the overall package, some parts felt a little shallow, even making some aspects of the game a little pointless. I never really went all out with raising animals and using automation for them because there wasn't much need to. In fact, I never did more than one animal area for sheep. Same went with crop planting. By the time I had about half the first(of many) crop growing areas filled up, I had basically already completed the game and thus made it kind of a waste of my time. This was also fed by the fact that I had already started making tons of jewelry, which are the highest selling items, and that can pretty much finish off the game for you. So it basically makes all the planting and animal farming kind of pointless/useless. It would be nice to see a shop/building expansion that also included some kind of bar/restaurant mechanic. This would not only add much needed space in the shop but would give a lot more purpose to planting and farming. Could even incorporate the bar/restaurant aspect into the story line, Maybe once you get your family out of debt they could join you to run this new part of the business and also use it to build up the community somehow against the tyrannical king. You could be feeding and arming them against the powers that be! Start training them on the combat training field you rebuilt even! QOL wise there are a few small things that are missing. Like you can craft things directly from storage but you can't build things using materials in storage. Some of the more common building tools like grids, free form building for decorations instead of pre-selected spots, etc. Besides that the game is very solid. It does a nice job of adding elements of exploration and combat to help mix up the gameplay. Some of these shop sim games have nothing more than just the shop part of it, which can get really old really quick. It's so much more satisfying when you have ways to harvest, build, grow, and mine your own materials for the products you make and sell. That's exactly what this game does. You have a map with areas you can explore. Secrets you can find. A Mine you can explore with combat. A full farming system that even includes some automation upgrades, and more. So Cozy Keep doesn't make the common mistake of not giving the player much to do, and for that this puts it high on the tier list of shop sim games. Other games I've played that do add other game mechanics (besides just the shop) usually make the mistake of not balancing the game in a way where you can go exploring when you feel like it and not worry about the shop. Though I do wish you could run the store even if you aren't there, you never feel like your progress is being halted for it either. You can build up some cash and take a few days to go explore and hit the mine without feeling like you might be screwed because the shop isn't currently running. It isn't easy finding a way to balance objectives and goals into this kind of game that have actual weight/purpose to them, and still allow the player the freedom to engage with and do as they see fit. So it's a nice treat to see a game that does exactly that, and I commend this dev for pulling it off. What a great foundation this game has, if it were to get just a little more substance and depth, this could be one of the best shop sim games out there. However, even if it doesn't get all that much more substance added, it's still a fun game to play now and worth the cost of admission. So I can easily recommend it!
Enjoyable game. Looking forward to co-op release. Love the direction, aesthetic, and potential seen in the roadmap. Overall great Early Access game! While I do recommend this game to any interested in a cute and "Cozy" time, I do have some things I would like to address. The balance of value vs production vs gathering materials needs some work. As does the value of production/materials/availability of materials. (Gold being rare compared to Umbral for instance. Some food goods provide 200-300% profit margins with almost no effort, Jams, while others provide barely 20-50% profits and need many ingredients/time investment.) The Farming side of things seems like it can be basically ignored entirely at this point. Before I had even paid off 2000 gold of my debt, I ran the mine and was able to take down the boss. In that run alone the amount of materials and loot drops made any other venture pointless. I've cleared the mine 3-4 times now and have cleared my debt. And I am still sitting on enough materials from those runs to open my shop a dozen or more times with just raw materials, and make good profit margins (1-2k minimum a day.). I know it is a bit nitpicky to say all that, and despite it I DID enjoy playing and look forward to future updates! Being able to choose what your selling, despite some number balancing in values, and decorate your shop to make it feel like a place to sell that particular specialization is really fun!
It's really nice simulator and education game for all non-working, living with parents, self-pity boys and girls here to show them its not impossible to work something and create their own business. I like it.
