A poignant narrative-driven game about rejection, belonging and the meaning of home. It follows the story of a newly adopted shelter cat whose space in the home is taken by a copycat. Bring the tissues.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.43/day in the week to Aug 7 → 8.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
⚠️ Copycat touches on sensitive topics such as family trauma, abandonment, and other emotional complexities. If you are going through difficult times, remember that you are not alone. Seek support from friends, family, or a professional. Take care of yourself and play at your own pace.
Copycat is a narrative-driven indie game about a pet who learns to deal with abandonment, and a human forced to surrender. Together, two souls go on a journey to discover the meaning of family and home. The game's colourful visuals delight the senses while exploring dark thematic depths. Journey on an emotional rollercoaster that pulls at the heartstrings and reminds you how it feels to be left behind. 🐾
We follow the tale of Dawn, a sceptical shelter cat who would much rather be in the wild than be readopted again. Dawn actually believes she is a wild cat. And plans on escaping as soon as she gets the chance.
Dawn has second thoughts when she meets new owner Olive, a lonely older Aussie mourning the disappearance of her beloved furry companion. Together Dawn and Olive develop an intimate friendship, as two broken hearts mend one another and learn to beat as one. ❤️
Everything changes when Olive falls ill, and a stray copycat steals Dawn’s place in the home—forcing Dawn onto the streets.
Wander alleyways, fences and rooftops as you learn about the true meaning of home. The reflective pacing of the game allows you the opportunity to indulge in the emotions of love, loneliness and letting go as you progress throughout the story.
Copycat is fully voice acted, featuring hours of dialogue and a talented voice cast. Original music score by Daniel Bunting.

Reviews
great

Made me cry
Copycat is a really fun game, I saw no issues with it and I would recommend the game if you like a short story about a cat.
Sehr niedliches Spiel mit ernsten Themen. Klare Empfehlung.
Okay a straight up answer: I finished the demo and the full game and i just wasted 3 hours and 42 minutes of my life. Its a horrible game and the message makes truly no sense, first of all yes, i feel bad for writing a bad review on a 2 dev game - they tried their best but this really was horrible. First - the story: The story of this game follows a old lady named Olive who decides to get a cat from the shelter named Dawn. Dawn looks exactly like her old cat, and has the same name - Creepy? I KNOW!! Now, we play as "Dawn" or the replacement dawn - and we live with Olive, keep in mind IRL i have a kitten so what im saying is accurate both in my opinion and for taking care of a cat, anyways, at first like any cat would we are scared and we scratch at Olive and then we trust her, by the end of the game the message is "Home is not where you are loved, it is where you are needed most" which isnt that like love? I didnt understand that one bit. Then slowly when we trust her one day we escape and get out of the collar she provides us - only to be met with another cat who looks exactly like us (The original dawn) to get thought she is us and get taken in by olive, olive gives her our collar and names her dawn obviously thinking its dawn and leaves us to starve. Now - The charectors Mae: She is straight up 🤡 for trying to k*ll her mother with the pillow, she also dosent care about us when she knows that her mother (olive) has a cat (us) so when olive gets super sick and the ambulence takes her she says "leave the cat" and never comes to check on us, later when she brings olive home she KICKS US OUT WITHOUT TELLING OLIVE because we were hungry *she didnt feed us or care for us while olive wasnt here like i said* and we ripped open the bag of food and ate it. She also says we dont belong here. Olive: Shes a whole different story. She is a old lady who is super super sick and has lost a cat who looks exactly like us named dawn, she goes to the shelter and adopts us and names us dawn. Keep in mind she has 1 toy we cant play with by ourselves and has 0 scratching posts - yet kicks us for sharpening our claws on the sofa - then immedietely says sorry? Then she gives us her story of dawn and says we are all she has left. Which is fake because then she goes ahead and thinks we are original dawn, she also is a very irresponsible owner even if she is sick, she leaves pills out on the floor which she knows about, she leaves food everywhere including the bathroom, the paints are all open and she dosent care about anything Mae says about not being able to care for a pet and even has the audacity to get mad at us for knocking over her things when shes the one leaving us home alone with everything scattered everywhere? Also she made us feel like we were safe had a home she signed a contract saying she would always keep us and then when she wants to keep original dawn she leaves us in the forest saying we will be safe there when there are atleast bears out there? If not dogs. I feel bad and would like to know how the devs games are treated. No cat - or animal - deserves this treatment. Us (replacement dawn): We are just super inoccent here and we did nothing wrong, olive decides to adopt us and then we trust her slowly and she makes us feel special, loved, happy then she magically leaves us in the forest and says we are safer here. HOW ARE WE SAFE AS A CAT IN THE FOREST LADY?! Dawn (original dawn): Such a brat for taking our spot. But again its not her fault olive decides to mistreat and neglect her animals Nature expert (narrorater): Hes also innocent, the first few minutes of the game i wanted to punch him in the face but then i slowly started liking him. Hes educatinal but still can be actually true like when he gets mad at olive near the end Neighbors: They just do nothing. They all are super rude to us for no reason except this one kid who gave us food near the end and likes us and wants us to live with him but his mom decided not to let him have a third cat and says we have rabies. Bad excuse. The message: It makes no fridging sense. "Home is not where you are loved, its where you are needed most" that is what love is, its confusing as heck and makes no sense at the same time. Messages are supposed to change your life and motivate you but this one does nothing Overall rating: -♾️ / 10 Its horrible and not worth any money. I feel super bad because i know there are 2 devs and they are making this game and it was their first and they tried their best but they asked me for a review and i gave my honest rating i was NOT payed to write this this is my opinion i dont like this game, i feel bad for the devs cats and i would like to know if they are okay. This game supports abuse and neglect by giving the message that its okay and you should always go back to your abuser and neglecter i hate this game honestly now ill go ahead and leave and play with my schielch
i cryed so hard when i play this, but this game is very good and worth playing ^^
SADEST AND bestest sad game so good
