A poignant narrative-driven game about rejection, belonging and the meaning of home. It follows the story of a newly adopted shelter cat whose space in the home is taken by a copycat. Bring the tissues.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.43/day in the week to Aug 7 → 8.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
⚠️ Copycat touches on sensitive topics such as family trauma, abandonment, and other emotional complexities. If you are going through difficult times, remember that you are not alone. Seek support from friends, family, or a professional. Take care of yourself and play at your own pace.
Copycat is a narrative-driven indie game about a pet who learns to deal with abandonment, and a human forced to surrender. Together, two souls go on a journey to discover the meaning of family and home. The game's colourful visuals delight the senses while exploring dark thematic depths. Journey on an emotional rollercoaster that pulls at the heartstrings and reminds you how it feels to be left behind. 🐾
We follow the tale of Dawn, a sceptical shelter cat who would much rather be in the wild than be readopted again. Dawn actually believes she is a wild cat. And plans on escaping as soon as she gets the chance.
Dawn has second thoughts when she meets new owner Olive, a lonely older Aussie mourning the disappearance of her beloved furry companion. Together Dawn and Olive develop an intimate friendship, as two broken hearts mend one another and learn to beat as one. ❤️
Everything changes when Olive falls ill, and a stray copycat steals Dawn’s place in the home—forcing Dawn onto the streets.
Wander alleyways, fences and rooftops as you learn about the true meaning of home. The reflective pacing of the game allows you the opportunity to indulge in the emotions of love, loneliness and letting go as you progress throughout the story.
Copycat is fully voice acted, featuring hours of dialogue and a talented voice cast. Original music score by Daniel Bunting.

Home is not where you live, but where you most need to be (I changed it a little). A heartbreaking story that can raise awareness. Since I’m not a gaming connoisseur, so I normally prefer not to review games. However, I’d like to comment on this game from a different perspective: its potential to raise awareness. It can inspire empathy, especially in someone who might otherwise abandon their cat or dog, or when they encounter a stray animal. It has an emotional story about people’s indifference to the promises they make and even to the feelings they themselves experience so deeply. In the country where I live, unfortunately, taking animals away and abandoning them somewhere far from home is even considered an accomplishment by some. The child they meet at the picnic talking about the father who abandoned them; Olive’s passion for life and the fact that, despite enjoying most of her days, her daughter cannot bear her illness and attempts to kill her; Olive abandoning Dawn and walking away from her responsibility despite the promise she made and the contract she signed when adopting her… Ultimately, Dawn’s inner monologues represent the fragile nature of human beings. It would have been better if the camera angle could be adjusted.

They weren't lying when they said "bring the tissues." A tearjerker that deftly explores the feeling of belonging, purpose, and empathy. Absolutely worth it at full price.
amazing game, but i do not recommend attempting to play without tissues & a bottle of water
Magnifique petit jeu qui m'a fait pleurer moi et la commu. GG les devs ♥
Copycat is emotionally provocative on a deep level. I went into the story expecting something dark and it surpassed all of my expectations. I recommend it with the caveat that the player is prepared for an extremely depressing narrative. The player is thrust into an unforgiving environment through the perspective of a sheltered housecat, with all of the instinctual drives and naivete that entails. There is sometimes a lack of agency where the illusion of choice is presented, but ultimately the player always has the choice to stay or leave. Staying represents domestication and the desire to remain in an area with food and shelter despite the occasional abuse from humans. Leaving represents willingness to return to your wild roots as a stray cat. This conflict is presented as a type of nature mockumentary with an amusing narrator. Dawn's internal thoughts are communicated to the player through a series of dream sequences and hover text.
I expected to hate Olive, but I can't bring myself to despite all of her obvious flaws. In the end she wants the same thing as Dawn; a place to belong. And unlike the Dawns, she never has the chance to get it. Her own daughter contemplates murdering her, but ultimately settles on flipping her house and putting her in an assisted living home. Mae is utterly deplorable. She makes Cruella De Ville seem sympathetic by comparison.
Sweet game, ngl broke my heart like 50 times tho, but I am happy you can have a (semi-)happy ending. Reminded me how much my cat means to me. She will have a forever forever home with me (hear that Olive?!?) Cheers to the developers, hope to see more from them in the future.
mrrowww!!
