A poignant narrative-driven game about rejection, belonging and the meaning of home. It follows the story of a newly adopted shelter cat whose space in the home is taken by a copycat. Bring the tissues.

Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.43/day in the week to Aug 7 → 8.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
⚠️ Copycat touches on sensitive topics such as family trauma, abandonment, and other emotional complexities. If you are going through difficult times, remember that you are not alone. Seek support from friends, family, or a professional. Take care of yourself and play at your own pace.
Copycat is a narrative-driven indie game about a pet who learns to deal with abandonment, and a human forced to surrender. Together, two souls go on a journey to discover the meaning of family and home. The game's colourful visuals delight the senses while exploring dark thematic depths. Journey on an emotional rollercoaster that pulls at the heartstrings and reminds you how it feels to be left behind. 🐾
We follow the tale of Dawn, a sceptical shelter cat who would much rather be in the wild than be readopted again. Dawn actually believes she is a wild cat. And plans on escaping as soon as she gets the chance.
Dawn has second thoughts when she meets new owner Olive, a lonely older Aussie mourning the disappearance of her beloved furry companion. Together Dawn and Olive develop an intimate friendship, as two broken hearts mend one another and learn to beat as one. ❤️
Everything changes when Olive falls ill, and a stray copycat steals Dawn’s place in the home—forcing Dawn onto the streets.
Wander alleyways, fences and rooftops as you learn about the true meaning of home. The reflective pacing of the game allows you the opportunity to indulge in the emotions of love, loneliness and letting go as you progress throughout the story.
Copycat is fully voice acted, featuring hours of dialogue and a talented voice cast. Original music score by Daniel Bunting.

Cool.
Beautiful game, loved the graphics and storyline. My only complaint is that I wish it was a bit longer.
Loved it. Wonderful and very sad story... But it is a powerful story. It really hits you in the feels, the heart, the gut. I love that you can choose a cat, even if the options are few, it's still options!
It´s a very beautyful and emotional rollercoaster. Love this piece of art and the heartblood and Love that went into this masterpiece from this small development studio "spoonful of wonders". Happy 2nd Birthday, followed for more of something like this.
I am very torn on how to feel about Copycat. I understand the premise, but I am unsure on what the actual message of the story is. Visually, it is a beautiful game, I laughed and cried, but the ending left me feeling very unfulfilled. I don't want this to be a negative review, because clearly the devs put a lot of work into it, I wish there was a "I don't recommend other players play this game, but I am not going to recommend that they *not* play this game" option, something neutral in which you can still voice your thoughts, but it doesn't make a difference ratings wise. So for the sake of my review not potentially harming the devs ratings wise, I'm choosing "yes" for whether or not I'd recommend this game to others. I'll try to go a bit in depth on my feelings about Copycat. I'll get visuals out of the way, since that's the thing that least concerns me in any game (unless I get an avatar that I get to play dress up with). As I said, visually, the game is beautiful. The controls were okay, jumping was a bit tough at times, but that's about it, pretty straightforward. The voice acting was good, whoever voiced Mae did a great job, 'cause I wanted to slap the ponytail off of her before we even got to that *redacted* had a ponytail in the first place. The music was pleasant as well, and I can't think of a point in which the music didn't fit the scene perfectly. I am an animal lover through and through, and although I've never willingly abandoned any of my animals, when I was a teenager I had no choice but to leave my childhood cats behind at one point. It wasn't my choice, I had no control over the matter, I mourned over them for a long time, and I still wish I could go back and change things, but as a powerless teenager in an extremely difficult family situation, there was nothing I could do. I always hoped I could get them back, but as months passed, it became clearer and clearer that things weren't going to turn out that way. It was several years before I opened my heart to the very idea of getting another cat, and now I have three that I love more than I could ever put into words. I still think of my childhood cats and I still feel the sorrow, the hurt of knowing I failed them. All of this trauma-dump to say, Copycat had me absolutely bawling my eyes out at several points. It hit so close to home, and I'm not one to get triggered easily, but my animals have never been anything less than family to me. I finished Copycat in one sitting, solely because I knew if I took a break, I wouldn't be able to finish it for emotional and mental reasons. Even if I didn't quite enjoy Copycat as a game, the abandonment and loneliness narrative was strong, and I wish some people would play a game like Copycat before even considering adopting an animal. With that said, I am very, very confused on the point of the story. The ending made no sense to me, and the last half of the game in general made me really, really hate Olive. I don't think the players are *supposed* to hate her, but oh good lord, I hate that woman. The only one I hate more than Olive, is Mae. So to see Original Dawn and Player Dawn somehow indirectly wind up sort-of with Olive was borderline maddening. That's not the only part where the storyline lost me, was Mae going to smother her mother at one point?! If I somehow misunderstood that part and Mae was not going to smother her mother, uh, I think Mae's animation and placement need to be majorly adjusted for that scene, because I thought this was gonna turn into some "meow to keep Mae from unaliving Olive!" thing... does Steam flag the actual word for unaliving? Not gonna risk it. To me, it felt like there were several good parts of Copycat, and several not-so-good parts, and very few of them go hand in hand together. Almost like the game started with three separate concepts, but instead of choosing one and moving forward with it, the other two got crammed in there as well. The minigames felt very, I guess out of nowhere at times, especially the dream sequences. Speaking of the minigames, I don't get why there's a time limit, or a target (I don't know what the actual term for it is), if there aren't any consequences for failing. I'm a sore loser, but when you give me any sort of game- or minigame in this case -that I think I could lose, but don't actually punish me for losing it, it just drains any enjoyment and instead of a game, it feels like a chore, there is no reward for succeeding, because you lose nothing by failing. Any satisfaction is gone. I'm going to wrap up my ramble. This is in no way meant to be hateful to the developers of Copycat. I'd love to see another game by them, honestly, because they were onto something here. It's just that the execution fell a little flat, and it left me feeling disappointed.
