Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

About

The year is 1981, and as a young officer trainee, you are assigned to work at a border post in the mountainous region of Karikatka. Entry into the Acarist People's Republic is strictly regulated by the party and your every move is monitored! The situation at the border escalates when your comrade is killed during one of the interventions...

Document control
Every visitor must have a set of valid documents. Even the slightest discrepancy means refusal of entry. Over time, the number of documents will increase and errors will be more difficult to detect.

Smuggling detection
Our intelligence regularly provides information about suspicious drivers. Search their vehicles using a UV flashlight and then use the appropriate tools to extract the smuggled goods. No amount of contraband should cross the border!

Shootouts
In some situations you will be forced to use firearms. Your station is a constant target for Oberankov's gang attacks, and every away mission carries the risk of a clash with the enemy.

Police chases
Desperate smugglers may attempt to escape from the control zone. It is your duty to stop and arrest them! Buy and upgrade police cars to improve the effectiveness of your pursuit.

Post management
Upgrade your police station to increase its defenses and improve subsequent inspections. However, keep in mind the rising cost of maintaining your station. Successful inspections, foiled smuggling and successful interventions are a few ways to earn cash.

Special assignments
Always be ready to intervene in an emergency. Solve crime puzzles, support your comrades and thwart the Blood Fist rebels. Make decisions that will determine the future of Acaristan.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

quite relaxing... sometimes
When I first picked up Contraband Police, I thought I knew what I was in for. I expected a fairly straightforward, Papers, Please-inspired loop of checking passports and cargo, just set in a 3D environment. I was ready to settle in for some tedious, but satisfying, border management. What I didn't expect was to be completely pulled into a gritty, suspenseful story about political intrigue, moral compromise, and survival in the fictional, communist nation of Acaristan in 1981. This game isn't just about stamps; it’s about navigating the impossible choices of a totalitarian regime. You step into the boots of a young officer cadet assigned to the Karatika border post. Right from the start, the atmosphere is heavy. The world is grey, foggy, and filled with tension. You're reporting to the formidable Commissioner Primor, a man who expects absolute obedience, and you can practically feel the eyes of the state watching your every move. The narrative hook is that you are on probation, and your very first days involve a brutal attack on the checkpoint. It immediately raises the stakes and forces you to realize this isn't just a desk job. The real magic of Contraband Police is in its choice system. The story isn't linear; it branches significantly based on how you react to the situations presented to you. This isn't a game of "good vs. evil"; it's a game about deciding which bad option you can live with. As you work the border, you will encounter members of the Blood Fist, a rebel faction fighting the government. You will be forced to choose between: Aiding the Rebels: Smuggling supplies for them, looking the other way for their agents, and undermining the state you swore to serve. Upholding the State: Rigorously enforcing the laws, reporting every infraction, and crushing the rebellion, even if it means harming desperate people. These decisions are incredibly difficult. Aiding the rebels feels morally "right" but puts you in extreme danger—if the government finds out, your career and life are over. On the other hand, being a loyal state officer makes you feel complicit in an oppressive, heartless system. The story does a fantastic job of integrating its narrative with the gameplay. Your decisions directly lead to new challenges and missions. A day of passport checking might be interrupted by a message to investigate a murder in the forest, or a call to transport a high-value prisoner, forcing you to fight your way through an ambush. What starts as a slow-paced simulator steadily increases in intensity until you are involved in full-blown shootouts, high-speed car chases, and prison breaks. This escalation gives purpose to the otherwise repetitive nature of the border inspections. You want to get through the day to see how the next political twist unfolds. The story in Contraband Police is the anchor that keeps you engaged. It’s gritty, surprising, and doesn’t shy away from the dark realities of a police state. If you’re looking for a game that offers a rewarding sense of choice and consequence, all wrapped up in a tense, cold war-era narrative, Contraband Police is a border crossing you don’t want to miss. It proves that even the most mundane jobs can hold incredible, life-or-death drama.
