About
Cognition Method is a story-driven first-person puzzle game inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris. Manipulate gravity, navigate impossible spaces, and uncover the secrets of a surreal artifact beyond human understanding.

The year is 2085. Earth is gone, humanity survives on Mars. You are William Mortwood, an astronaut of the Martian Academy. A remote space station has gone silent after bringing a mysterious Artifact aboard. The crew vanished, and your son was among them. Now you must uncover the truth, face challenges that defy reason… and try not to lose yourself along the way.
Master mechanics that twist gravity, space, and perception as you move through impossible structures. Each puzzle challenges not only your logic, but the way you understand the world around you. Approach each challenge from different angles to find your way forward.
Step into a place of vast, silent spaces, shifting architecture — a world that feels alien and inhuman, yet strangely intentional… and not entirely welcoming. Is the Artifact simply a structure, or something more?
What happened to those who entered the Artifact? And what part of the protagonist’s past refuses to let him go?
Through abandoned recordings and fragmented notes scattered across a space station, follow the traces of a vanished expedition and piece together a deeply personal story about curiosity and the limits of the human mind.
Explore two contrasting environments: the space station is bright, vivid and human, filled with signs of life and the remains of the expedition. In contrast, the Artifact is cold and minimalistic, full of impossible geometry and silent corridors.
Find your way within a mysterious artifact and unveil a non-ordinary story.

Brilliant game. I was captivated by the demo and had to wishlist it. i'm so glad I decided to buy and play it all the way through. Yes, I can totally see the Qube / 2001 influences, with a smidgin of Tacoma perhaps. Gotta love a megastructure! A really touching sci-fi story, wrapped up in a moral question. The graphics were lovely, but will still run on moderate hardware. Although I have a 4070, it wasn't really stressed throughout the game. The music and ambient sound effects were exceptionally atmospheric. Many times they reminded me of 2001 or other psychological horror movies. Really nicely done. I think the most impressive thing was the gravity-transition when exploring Escher-like spaces. Transitioning from horizontal to vertical on stairs was one of the smoothest I've ever seen, really nicely implemented. I can see how someone may consider the visuals to be sparse when compared to something like Portal 2. Yes, I'm sure if the team had tens of millions and a huge dev team they could have also created a much more complex space like Portal 2. But, personally I care a little less over 8K hyper-def 144FPS visuals, and I focus more on gameplay and experience... And the dev team really created something great here. The VO work is very nice. Special kudos to the protagonist VO actor. Just the right levels of irritation / curiosity / disbelief throughout. Even when things start to get really unusual later, the actor conveys things very well. Although the game only lasted me somwhere around 5 or 6 hours, I feel like I got my money's worth. It plays out like a first person movie. Mostly walking simulator, sprinkled with nice easy portal/qube-esque puzzles. Manages to put a twist on the cube-on-pressure-plate mechanic too, which is nice. Congratulations to the devs on bringing this out. I hope it does well. The first few patches on release day solved all the game-breaking bugs I encountered, and the rest of the game was smooth. I hope there's a CM2 someday, or even a book! The game's in-lore tech is great... So much possibility for a sequel after that brilliant cliffhanger :) Questions I'd love to see answered:
Why is the cube so spacious? Where did the builders go? Does it come with a 3d printer? Can you get the stored 'items' back? Can we get rid of the red you-know-whats with a good run of Norton Antivirus 2526 Pro edition?
I've been waiting for this game since the demo. I already knew the minimalist, geometric spaces would be my main grabbing point, and they definitely were beautiful. But the story hit harder than i was expecting. many elements were used to punch the emotions of the main character into your gut. I'll definitely be playing it again for different endings.
I absolutely love this game!!! Says walking simulator but there is a part that is very much like a platformer of having to jump from moving objects onto other moving objects (so if you aren't good at those or they just aren't your thing, then maybe this isn't the game for you or you'll be OK with it. It wasn't hard to do but I do know that kind of stuff isn't for everyone). I loved the puzzle rooms and some really got me thinking, especially with gravity shifting aspects that you could change. Adding in the barrier walls made me have to step back on some and work out the puzzle from a distance instead of just pushing buttons and hoping it works as I go lol. The story is amazing! Had me thinking a lot of deep thoughts! Also threw in some twists that I didn't see coming at all. Had to play through the last level twice in order to get both endings to really understand the full story...which to me was great because I wanted all the lore to this game (and I still want more for this world!). I wasn't expecting spooky stuff in this game, but the environment does that at times (and some of the levels did have some actual spooky stuff that made me scream lol). Also wasn't expecting to be trolled and have beef with a white door lol. I still need to go back through the game to find and collect all the stuff and get all the achievements. Just overall, I absolutely love this game and my stream did as well! I highly recommend it!!
Thumbs up for this portal-ish walker. It's more like Ad Astra than 2001: A Space Odyssey.
OK, I've had this in my Wishlist for almost 4 years... kinda thought it was a dead project, but was excited when it came across my email as being released. The atmosphere is exactly what I remembered from the demo. Looks great, very liminal - backrooms in SPAAAACE. I'm not a patient gamer... some people like getting sucked into a story. I could care less, I just want to solve gravity defying space-puzzles. You're forced to interact with, and can not proceed through some long dialogue sessions. The mechanics are great, and I think they could have stood to expand the puzzles. Most took between 45 seconds to 5 minutes to solve and then you're done. Some I solved completely by accident. There's a waveform matching minigame ... It solves itself almost instantly every time it comes up in gameplay. Main complaint at this moment is the checkpoints. There was a bug in the late game where the game didn't recognize that I had an item I needed to proceed (Even though it was clearly in my inventory). Decided to back out of the game to see if that would trigger the game to reset the code), and it sent me back almost 30 minutes of tedious gameplay/dialogue that I don't really want to repeat. PFFFFFFT... Also, there's a couple of random platforming sections, and the movement is just not setup for that. Extremely frustrating, honestly. Haven't completed it yet, cause I'm exhausted at the thought of going through this walking-simulator part of the story. Will update upon completion.
It was pretty janky, but otherwise an enjoyable walking sim/puzzler
