About
Cognition Method is a story-driven first-person puzzle game inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris. Manipulate gravity, navigate impossible spaces, and uncover the secrets of a surreal artifact beyond human understanding.

The year is 2085. Earth is gone, humanity survives on Mars. You are William Mortwood, an astronaut of the Martian Academy. A remote space station has gone silent after bringing a mysterious Artifact aboard. The crew vanished, and your son was among them. Now you must uncover the truth, face challenges that defy reason… and try not to lose yourself along the way.
Master mechanics that twist gravity, space, and perception as you move through impossible structures. Each puzzle challenges not only your logic, but the way you understand the world around you. Approach each challenge from different angles to find your way forward.
Step into a place of vast, silent spaces, shifting architecture — a world that feels alien and inhuman, yet strangely intentional… and not entirely welcoming. Is the Artifact simply a structure, or something more?
What happened to those who entered the Artifact? And what part of the protagonist’s past refuses to let him go?
Through abandoned recordings and fragmented notes scattered across a space station, follow the traces of a vanished expedition and piece together a deeply personal story about curiosity and the limits of the human mind.
Explore two contrasting environments: the space station is bright, vivid and human, filled with signs of life and the remains of the expedition. In contrast, the Artifact is cold and minimalistic, full of impossible geometry and silent corridors.
Find your way within a mysterious artifact and unveil a non-ordinary story.

Sadly it's not what I was looking for. I was very interested and added this one to my wishlist several months ago. In my first impression I thought it might become something like "Manifold Garden" with puzzles and a bit of backstory, but it's rather a story driven walking simulation with way too easy "puzzles" and an emotional and at least for me boring "conflict". I just wished for "leave me in that paradox environments and give me some harder puzzles". May be interesting for someone else, but not for me.
Good solid game with a lot of interesting perspective (literally) Will not play on stream as long as any sort of AI is attached that can't just fully be done by a person. I want to give this the attention it deserves and show it off. Not yet. I will continue to personally turn down pushing anything AI generated, even if it's just supportive modulation. Thumbs up for recommend, but also thumbs down. Stop trying to make shortcuts, please.

The vibes in this game are immaculate. Pretty simple puzzles and its a short playthrough but the story is good, the visuals are amazing. Heavily inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey. Don't expect a brain buster with puzzles but there's a few challenges. The Audio design is truly amazing. Its not a horror game but sometimes can be incredibly unsettling but in the best way. Love it, wish it were longer.
I came for the puzzles and ended up completely invested in finding my son. Cognition Method is an excellent puzzle game with a surprisingly engaging sci-fi story. Humanity has destroyed Earth and escaped to Mars. You play as William, a scientist and astronaut who was ready to leave that life behind and retire. His son Leo followed in his footsteps, becoming a scientist and astronaut himself, until he disappeared during a mission. So much for retirement^^ You set out to find him, and along the way, you'll also have to confront pieces of William's own past. The game looks fantastic, and the different locations are beautifully designed. Combined with the great sound design and voice acting, the environments feel incredibly atmospheric and believable. The story can be a little confusing at first, but everything gradually comes together and makes sense by the end. More importantly, it stayed interesting throughout and constantly made me want to know what would happen next. The puzzles fit the game really well. Some are fairly straightforward, while others require you to stop and think about what the game actually wants from you. Especially towards the end, I had to use my brain a little more than it probably appreciated xD But nothing ever felt unfair or frustrating. Everything was absolutely solvable. I enjoyed it so much that I played through the entire game in one go. Now I just have to go back and collect the remaining achievements. Thankfully, there's a chapter selection, so that shouldn't be much of a problem. And since there are multiple endings, I have another good reason to jump back in anyway :) If you enjoy atmospheric sci-fi, interesting stories, and puzzles that make you think without making you hate your life, I can absolutely recommend this one^^
I absolutely love this game. It takes elements from other games like Portal, Stanley's parable and Superliminal and delivers a unique experience with a beautiful story line, amazing level design, fun puzzles and mind bending physics. It wasn't a long gameplay, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
Gorgeous world, fun puzzles that spin you around and make you feel stupid and smart at the same time. Good story, well written and acted.
I wanted to like this game so very much.. I played the demo, had the game on my wishlist, counted down the days to release... but a game breaking timing puzzle midway through the game just led my game progression to a complete stop.
Brilliant game. I was captivated by the demo and had to wishlist it. i'm so glad I decided to buy and play it all the way through. Yes, I can totally see the Qube / 2001 influences, with a smidgin of Tacoma perhaps. Gotta love a megastructure! A really touching sci-fi story, wrapped up in a moral question. The graphics were lovely, but will still run on moderate hardware. Although I have a 4070, it wasn't really stressed throughout the game. The music and ambient sound effects were exceptionally atmospheric. Many times they reminded me of 2001 or other psychological horror movies. Really nicely done. I think the most impressive thing was the gravity-transition when exploring Escher-like spaces. Transitioning from horizontal to vertical on stairs was one of the smoothest I've ever seen, really nicely implemented. I can see how someone may consider the visuals to be sparse when compared to something like Portal 2. Yes, I'm sure if the team had tens of millions and a huge dev team they could have also created a much more complex space like Portal 2. But, personally I care a little less over 8K hyper-def 144FPS visuals, and I focus more on gameplay and experience... And the dev team really created something great here. The VO work is very nice. Special kudos to the protagonist VO actor. Just the right levels of irritation / curiosity / disbelief throughout. Even when things start to get really unusual later, the actor conveys things very well. Although the game only lasted me somwhere around 5 or 6 hours, I feel like I got my money's worth. It plays out like a first person movie. Mostly walking simulator, sprinkled with nice easy portal/qube-esque puzzles. Manages to put a twist on the cube-on-pressure-plate mechanic too, which is nice. Congratulations to the devs on bringing this out. I hope it does well. The first few patches on release day solved all the game-breaking bugs I encountered, and the rest of the game was smooth. I hope there's a CM2 someday, or even a book! The game's in-lore tech is great... So much possibility for a sequel after that brilliant cliffhanger :) Questions I'd love to see answered:
Why is the cube so spacious? Where did the builders go? Does it come with a 3d printer? Can you get the stored 'items' back? Can we get rid of the red you-know-whats with a good run of Norton Antivirus 2526 Pro edition?
I am only not refunding because allegedly this is a Ukrainian team. Aside from that, this is typical slav slop: a love letter to the theme (with like zero understanding of the science involved. I'm not expecting a dissertation, but, come on), competently-enough thrown together, but, ultimately, possessing with very little depth or original thought. It'd be a cool mod for one of the games it was inspired by but it does not stand up on its own. Funny enough, I thought, oh, hey, maybe I can at least refresh my Ukrainian while playing something vaguely enjoyable. No such luck: changing the language only changes the text (i.e., the menus).
